catharsix
The title get the basic point across, but what models from non-GW companies would people recommend (or might use/have used) for various demon units? Surely there must be some good models to represent demons in general, and ones which could be easily substituted for GW models. I am no fan of almost anything Nurgle, and most of the Slaanesh stuff either. Ideally, I am planning on making a force which has more "traditional" looking demons, across the board (no matter what unit/Chaos god they represent). That is to say, the old fire-and-brimstone, bat wings, hooves, horns, fangs, etc. No (or very little) diseased-looking demons, or demons with 7 breasts or things like that. Any suggestions welcome. Preferably good-quality minis though (no offense, but sorry Reaper is kinda weak in my opinion), and stuff that wouldn't contrast to shaply/would integrate well with existing GW minis (I do plan to use some that I do like, like the Bloodcrushers, heavily modified Daemon Prince, and some stuff from the Warriors of Chaos Fantasy line). Thanks B&C! -C6 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236872-non-gw-counts-as-demon-models/ Share on other sites
Mr Peon
I got some models from Gamezone. A few models to act as chariots and some more to be fiends. They look nice and could be used for Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Im not a fan of Khorne so have not looked for much to replace the existing there. Commander Sasha
The French company/game "Ragnarok" had what are generally considered to be some of the most stunning minis ever; they went bankrupt a few years ago, but the rights and the molds have very recently been bought up, so do some Googling, and keep an eye out for them. Wyrd miniatures have been making gorgeous magic and steampunk stuff for years, and have recently put them together in a game called Malifaux, check out their range. If BolterandChainsword is the best Marine forum, then CoolMiniOrNot is the best painting forum, and has an extensive shop; make tea, set aside 2 hours, and browse that. I love proxy armies, my current main army is Skaven Counts-As-Tyranids. I'd recommend starting a new folder on your shortcuts bar for minis alone, as it is frustrating when you remember a model you've seen and liked, but forget whence it came. Madcap
I know you mentioned not caring for Reaper, but I really like the Warlord line from Reaper Miniatures for lots of cool substitutions for daemons. They are very much like "fire and brimstone" demons/devils of old. It also scales well with 40K. Some specifics: Daemonettes -> Incubi/Succubi Fiend of Slaanesh -> Marilith (much cooler than the six-breasted horse-thing from GW Herald of Slaanesh -> Duke Rahl Keeper of Secrets -> "Lolth" or many others If you haven't seen their Warlord line, check them out. Otherwise, Ultraforge Miniatures makes some cool stuff. Some of the Cryx units for Warmachine could work for Nurgle substitutions.
