Hey guys.

I love Space Marines, I really do, and I'm going to start another army.

But this is where I need your help. I'm going to either use Blood Angels or Space Wolves.

My Blood Angels army would be all jump-packs, and I would use a Logan-Wing Space Wolves army.

I'd start off with the Space Wolves battleforce first though, then just add terminators and Logan to it. Thanks :)

I do love me some DA...

I've always been a wolf! They were my first army, back when I was 4! It's now in a state of disrepair though, but I've got my venerable dreadnought, fully metal, may as well use it as a paper-weight :)

And I love wolves...

and furry fluff...

But dude, I was 4! :L

since then I've had a chaos fantasy army, an ogre kingdoms fantasy army (which are now too both royally destroyed.)

and my current army which is space marines :)

I just want to branch out, or back in.

Well, branch out, but not too far out...

Don't let these wolves hound you into their pack just yet! What are you looking for in an army? Is it fluff? Looks? Interesting rules? Wargear options?

What's your playstyle? Do you just want to rush in and knock heads? Or would you rather drown your enemies in lead?

Do you howl at the moon or bathe in blood? etc.

What you need to find out is your own preferences, likes, and dislikes and find the army that fits you and your own personal character. If none seem to fit just right, a Do It Yourself army could work, as well.

It is a tough choice, though. Sanguinius and Russ were badarse.

Sounds like the only reason why you want to do SW is for Logan. Personally, not a reason to do a whole army.

If your looking for a break from your current fisters then look at something completely different. At the end of the day a marine army is a marine army no matter which you do.

Guys, I got this.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

you deserve to be cleaning the wolves their den for the rest of the year for making a reference like that to us wolves! :)

us wolves, team jacob, just the thought of it!*smashes a stein in frustration*

No one in team jacob could even grow stubble. Let alone the facial hair to be a blood claw!!!

The edward bit is right though. Bunch of dodgy pretty boys.

note that all bloodclaws are clean shaven, only once they become a grey hunter they are allowed to let their facial hair grow

So you seem pretty set in terms of choosing a Space Marine army. That's fine, overall.

Considering everything everyone else has said, make sure you yourself know why before doing something that will take some consideration.

I don't know Blood Angels, however, I do know Space Wolves pretty well.

All Termies won't cut it on the tabletop. Their heavy weapons are great; however, they're just as weak at taking on foes as most infantry types can be. Blood Claws excel at the charge, so much so that they are nearly the best at it in the entire game. Give them a Wolf Priest, and WGPL with a Fist and whatever else you feel like, and there's a truly nasty force coming out of a LRC that will make things hurt.

If you want the Space Wolves Battleforce, are you making all Blood Claws? Sure, that'll work. The question is with Logan what elites options are you considering? With Logan, Wolf Guard become Troops, so you may field up to 60 terminators at once. That leaves three elite, heavy support, and fast attack slots to consider, assuming the points are there to fit them all in as full units of WG in Terminator armor.

Grey Hunters are able to be one of the best, cheapest and excellent all around troop units in the whole of 40K. I'd wonder if you're too in love with Wolf Claws, like I might be. The 5++ Invul save that comes standard with terminators is fine, however with all the plasma and other armor ignoring weapons out there losing some of the WG due to bad rolls will still statistically happen.

Thanks for the advise mate, much appreciated -_-

I don't play to win (obvious lie, I love winning) I'd just like an all terminator army, but because they're not like the BA jump-pack army, I could let myself get some dreadnoughts, and maybe a thunderbird/drop pod etc :)

Keep in mind, that yes, Logan-wing means you can have Wolf Guard as a troop choice, but you do not HAVE to put them all in Terminator armor. You could make some power armor wolf guard as fillers for pack leaders with Long Fangs or the token GH or BC pack, etc to get you that extra assault cannon or cyclone launcher.

As for elites, since you want a Logan-wing, WG packs don't count, but in a way, that's a blessing. In my lists, I almost never get to use dreadnoughts because unlike other codices, our dreads are elites (and not heavy support), and even though I like them, I prefer my wolf guard pack, followed by a lone wolf and a scout pack. Adding a Lone Wolf to your list doesn't seem like a good fit, but a scout squad might. At the very least, though, the sound of 2 hulking ven. dreads charging at the enemy alongside those Land Raiders packed with WG is more appropriate to me.

We will be friendly in this thread or we will not post at all.

Please do not include the unhelpful "If you don't know then you are not a wolf", or any other non helpful commentary. If anything it just shows a certain part of the SW community as elitist and unhelpful. Please help, or do not comment.

To the OP, please ensure you are asking a specific question. I'm not sure what you are really asking. Which one to choose or where to start?

I find Blood Claws to suck these days. Grey Hunters are way better and cost the same. With a Wolf Idon they truely are a terror to behold in massed numbers. So think about that.

I have 30 termies right now. I do not think I will get more. And Power Armor WG packs are really nice. You can trick them out a little better the GH and they own. Base attack of 2 so 4 on the charge, if geared right.

I too am working on a Blood Angel jump force. And maybe a gunship list.

Remember it;s to each his own.

On a side note I also made an Imperial Fists army named the Imperial Lions about 13 years ago. lol Wolves are my love but I wanted to write some of my own fluff, and wrote some short stories and stuff for them.
