Khorne Worny
Well after 9years I finally completed my 2000+pts space marine list which was a joy to build have no need to continue collecting them anymore and wish to start a GK army which is Custodian theme to put my increased painting and modeling skills to the test. This is why I think a draigo style army is what is best to represent what I wish to create. I was thinking along the lines of Draigo counts As and two units of 5 Paladins all armed with force helbards with upgrades for the first 1000pts. Any and all help on how is best to go about this or you have an even better way to go abut this I would love to know. thade
So, I'm actually doing this very thing myself...building a Draigo Wing with a handful of Custodians. I'm writing them a story (that will never see the light of day, save for my casual ravings). Anyway. A single unit of 2w Paladins and a Draigo counts-as all on Terminator Bases using the Scibor Minis sounds cool to me. It won't be a Draigo Wing per se as it's lacking in wound allocation shenanigans (only sic models in the unit instead of eleven, looks like they all have the same load-out in your schema) and - honestly - you could just as easily have the Custodian commander be a Brother Captain or Grand Master, straight up. (If you got the Scibor mini with the shield, however, I understand. <3) So if you don't want to go the insane-Thade-the-maniac route (only Paladins and Dreadknights with the occassional assassin) for which you need Paladins with each a unique load out (to allocate wounds and increase their survivability) then you should spam PAGK alongside them. Not sure I'd field a Custodian as anything less than a Paladin, but that may be just me. From what I've read so far, one on one a Custodian could take an Astartes...but group versus group Astartes would take the upperhand because Custodians tend to not work together, even when they are together. Also, a purely Custodian force would be crazy expensive (Scibor minis don't run cheap). Khorne Worny
Thats some great ideas but i think I will cheat a little and use the GK terminators body and arms and maybe greenstuff the helmet perhaps (used greenstuff once before....was terrible) or was thinking using another models head perhaps. Any suggestions. Plus have to look at these other minitures you mention. thade
Beyond using the Scibor minis (which are basically perfect for it) you can cannibalize High Elf Silverhelm or Spearmen kits for appropriate heads...and then file ALL of the Inquisition iconography off of your GK bodies. ;) And then find some way to put eagle icons on them. And cloth bits on their belts and shoulders. Finally, plumage on their helmet. I fear using Green Stuff to that degree; I'm barely competent enough to sculpt green stuff such that it makes gaps between pewter arms and chests look acceptably full. After I priced out the high elf bits + gk kits + amount of filing and sculpting necessary, the Scibor miniatures were actually cheaper.
