CuddlesHeretics
Just thought I'd be a soppy bugger and tell everyone about me and my brother's first game (not mine obviously, but his first) He was using my dad's chaos army, 18 marines, 2 sergeants, 9 terminators and a Lord, whereas I had a smaller force (from my space marines) of 25 marines and 5 assault marines, with a commander attached. Instead of a long drawn out annihilate mission, I explained to him that I'd captured one of his sergeats, and held him in my deployment zone, and he had to come get him, then get to another board edge, which he seemed to like. So we then set up, with some ruined buildings on my side, and a 2 tiered hill, I set up firing line, with a destroyed land raider, predator and razorback scattered around the (4"x3") board. I explained to him how far things move, showing him line of sight etc, and how to use the tanks as cover as he advanced. Then I showed him shooting with bs, then strength and toughness etc. Making the rules simpler and easier to remember, in the end I had my commander and 2 assault marines left, and he had 6 of his marines left, including a sergeant with a powersword left, and he was 3 inches away from the target. And then I remembered that I don't like kids, and winning comes first, so I charged in, my commander taking out 4 marines with his powersword, and the assault marines mopping up the rest. Luckily my winning didn't put him off, and we're going to play the same scenario again, but change forces round ;) It's always good to get someone into warhammer eyy  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237091-sharing-the-hobby/ Share on other sites
