I'm not feeling the basing... doesn't look right to me, but that's just me. The armour and flesh could use some washes also.

@ Maverik, I think the flash made the armour and flesh look "brighter" than what they really are. Also I am working on the bases, need to add more rock, some wash and snow, but thank you.

Ehhh even with the flash I can tell that the armour is lacking the wash to make it look more defined. Right now it's hard to tell and see the curves and accents to make it look like it's bits and pieces of armour. I dunno if that makes any sense? I guess what I'm saying is... there is nothing that separates each piece in the armour, like black on the knee and joints and such. What I'm trying to say is that it's more evident with the storm shield. Because it looks flat IMO. The silver on the storm shield, the red and gold. There are no borders, no grit and grime so to speak. I dunno, I'm sure DV8 or Wulfebane will explain it better hahaha

--EDIT--

me no speakah-in-glish very-good. not very-good-explain. My bad!

I guess I'll try. Without the wash, it looks flat. Yes, there's a shine, but it's a universal shine. There's as much shine on the most raised part as there is in the deepest recess. It looks like all the metal was pressed from a single sheet, like a license plate. The SS serving as the best example for that. Oh, and I'm a big advocate for using washes for skin. Skin isn't just one spectrum of peachy-pink flesh. Washes allow the skin tones to have a wider spectrum and sink into the lines of the face to keep it from looking like someone just tossed a paint bucket at it.

No one's saying you can't paint the metal or skin without washes, but aesthetically, the washes add definition, allows segments the illusion of separate pieces, and even on the occasion where the washes pool into irregularities on the flat surfaces allows for dings and nicks and blemishes which give metallic surfaces more texture and character. Should you choose not to use washes, there's other techniques, but bottom line, I think you'd do better service to your models and painting skills by going with at the very least 1 to 2 extra "tones" of paint/wash blended in or drybrushed on.

As for the models as a whole, I've never liked those TWC sculpts, so I'll leave that out, but I like how you've posed the riders and given them spears/harpoons/halberds, etc. My favorite is the guy with the wolf mid-leap and he looks like he's about to cast his spear. Very Epic.

Also, if that Canis model is finecast, I'm even more dissatisfied with GW than before. If it isn't (aka metal model), you might try bending those wolf claws. They're seriously whacked up. (DO NOT try to bend them if they're finecast... unless you want to, but you've been warned! I had a Logan model with a bent axe shaft. Barely touched it and it snapped right off.).

I don't know how effective it is, but don't try bending any finecast without first soaking the part in warm water. They're very fragile but, at least in theory, warming them up makes them soft enough to adjust without breaking...

Of course once you get them on the table...

No it is the metal model Canis,

I have not worked on the twc in a while and did not even see the things you all have said, thank you,

I paint my wolves the colors from 2nd ED. so some of them might look lighter than what many normally see. They are base coated shadow grey or fenris grey and then dry brushed space wolf grey.

Thank you all for your comments, I will work on them, along with all my other wolves
