alejandrinus
As promised, here's the tutorial on how to convert a assault space marine torso to a mk IV, and want to share it with you, brothers. The pictures may seems a little rough, this is due of doing various thing at the same time  , but if you take your time the end product would be smooth and look great once painted. Well less talk.... First fill with GS below the aguila, smooth the area keeping wet the your modeling tool,Its easier if you have at hand a rubber shaper. Then fill the chest aquila maintaining the level of GS under the belt *you can skip this last step keeping the aquila for variety When you do the first and feel confident you can batch modelling... STEP 3: More details (optional) With a little of GS and a mechanical pencil you can do rivetsFirst put a bit of GS, push the point of the mechanical pencil then carefully quit the excess of GS Be very patience with this... From left to right: - Normal mkIV Assault Marine Chest - Normal mkIV Assault Marine Chest with Aquila - Black Templar mkIV style(extended with plasticard before GS work) - Blood Angel mkIV style(GS pressmould) [clearfloat] I hope you find this useful, i'll try my best to write it and to be understable. Maybe next time when I refine the technique, i'll make another tutorial for MkIV legs. Thanks for reading. alejandrinus
Shortsonfire79
Nice tutorial man. Took me a little moment to figure out what you were doing with the v cut, but once I read through, I understood. Yours looks good, but I think adding a bit more of an angle to the armor plate would be nice. If you look at the Blood Angles mkIV chest you picture at the top, it has some different angles going on. Although the straps may cover some, you could still throw in a bit in the pieces that are still showing. Food for thought, great work!
alejandrinus
Yours looks good, but I think adding a bit more of an angle to the armor plate would be nice. If you look at the Blood Angles mkIV chest you picture at the top, it has some different angles going on. I know what you meant, the FW Red Scorpions Vanguard the angle seems almost 90, the BT and the BA has different angles too, but in the end i decided to go with a medium angle

batu
Cool stuff man ! The two squads look very dynamic and individual. No members of the squads are boring or look alike. Its nice how you integrated the different typs of armour. Especially the work one the assault torsos is incredible. I hope you will paint them soon ! alejandrinus
Im glad you all like them, and as batu said im trying to make each astarte unique in some way, i pretend to do a maybe near postheresy army but not too stricted. Im slow working in the second squad of assault marines, maybe if RL let me i´ll put some pics soon, nowadays i only could spend maybe 15 mins of hobby a day the better days... :D . My current schedule is to finish that squad, a honour guard, termi squad and then maybe two dreads one furioso and then airbrush time ^_^

alejandrinus
I pretend to finish the sniper squad, the vanguard veteran and a honour guard before painting, the painting process scared me a lot hope i dindt ruin all the effort put on the conversions ;)
d Karma b
Gotta say; the very first shot of the sword drew me in. The bristling energy in your troops is just palpable in the poses, cannot wait to see you paint them. A squad of that vanguard would look amazing with laurel helmets! Can I ask which bit you used for your Librarians blade?
alejandrinus
Thanks for the kind words d Karma b, and for the vanguard veterans I pretend to do at least one more with laurels for sure but for the sergeant im gonna kitbash something with one of the crested helmets of the sanguard kit and a mkIV or MK VI helmet. BTW the blade of the librarian comes in the sanguinary guard box, its a excelent box full of detailed plastic goodies :pirate:
