Bat33.1
The tac squad here was going to be Carcharadons but seen as how every man and his dog is painting them right now I went with RG as I've not painted too much black PA. I can't decide if I want to build them into a full army or leave them and move onto something with more colour? Decisions, decisions :) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282826.jpg The speeder has sat on the shelf for a few months now and started being painted as a Minotaurs bronze which didn't quite work out so I did a quick undercoat of Vallejo black primer before setting to work so it's not the crispest build you will ever see. I was too lazy to strip the first effort. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282811.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282815B.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282823B.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282819.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282824.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282825.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/paulj1965/GW%2040K/P8282820.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237210-raven-guard/ Share on other sites

Bat33.1
Thanks for the praise and kind comments :) I couldn't decide how to equip the sarge for the assualt squad - I guess he's wandering around the armoury, 'oh I don't know should I take a power fist today or a plasma pistol?' ;) Yes it was FW weathering powder, light rust, which ends up darker once matt varnish coat has been applied like these. I do use the Mig weathering powders as well but these only had the one FW colour used on the base and then lightly on to the mini and blended in. Meatman
Looks amazing man, and how have the forgeworld decals turned out for you? I'm a big fan of them :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237210-raven-guard/#findComment-2860195 Share on other sites
Bat33.1
Looks amazing man, and how have the forgeworld decals turned out for you? I'm a big fan of them :) Thank you :D The FW decals have been fine, they need a bit of care to get them down smooth and flat like any decal. I put small cuts into the top of the decal - in the middle and at 45 degrees in each corner about 2mm long which helps them conform to the shape of the pad, plus the usual decal prep of gloss varnish undercoat, use micro set and micro sol decal solutions, then a final gloss coat before the mini is flat varnished and hey presto no silver lines round my decals. I also used some Daco red super strong decal solution on the knee markings to get them down snug, it's a much more aggresive solution than micro sol and can eat the decal itself if you're not careful. I have spotted a couple of bits that needed attention looking at the pics which have now been attended too. I missed putting any script on the two minis with purity seals and I've now added tamiya red blood effects to the mini with the missing lower arm which nicely tones down that bright red basecoat that's visible in the pics.
