what do you think of this build?

Wolf Guard Battle Leader (70)

- terminator armour (40)

-storm bolter

- storm shield (15)

-mark of the wulfen (15)

- saga of the warrior born (35)

total - 175pts

basically with the mark of the wulfen he'll have D6+1 rending attacks, plus bonus attacks equal to the number of kills he made the round before. he cant have the rending attacks with a PW or whatever which is why i've kept the storm bolter for some shooting ability, and the termie armour and storm shield give him 2+/3+ so he should stick around for a while and end up with loads of attacks.

i really like the concept of it and i would love to model it, i just think it might be a bit pricey to be competitive, what do you think?

Just checked the Codex and current FAQ and your right. Think it fits under the following:

'may be bolstered by other factors' (from the Codex)

Works out very expensive though.

How about this if your looking to eat up points and hit fast and hard:

Battle Leader (215!!!!)

Combi-flamer, Runic Armour, Storm Shield, MotW, WTN, SotWB

Big waste of points. On a poor roll, MotW will result in less attacks than the Battle Leader would have without it. He will Rend (and therefore ignore armour), with 1/6 of his successful hits. For the same points, he could have a Power Weapon and always ignore armour saves. Furthermore, you are spending a lot of points on a Saga that only works when killing lots of enemy models, but he'll probably rarely kill anything with good armour. The Storm Bolter doesn't give you a significant amount of ranged firepower, either.

For a lot less points, you'd get a much more effective Battle Leader if you give him a Storm Shield and Frost Blade or Wolf Claw. Then you could consider SotWB, too, but I'd rather spend the 35 points elsewhere.

I have to agree with Valerian here. The concept is cool, potentially a lot of attacks, but as stated only 1/6 will rend and therefore ignore armor. The storm bolter doesn't provide a lot of ranged fire power. I think it's better off dropping the storm bolter and terminator armor for Runic Armor and a Power Weapon of some form. It's more consistent.

That being said. I don't want to crush your dreams, the idea is very interesting and unexpected which could also be fun to play (in a random, inconsistent, Orky kind of way if your into such things)

thanks for the replys guys, yeah i just thought it could be a bit of fun, i wasnt sure if it was really that effective for the points and it is expensive so thanks for your input.

i see what you mean about the storm bolter, its just the terminator armour comes with it and its cheaper to keep the storm bolter and swap the PW the armour comes with for a storm shield, as he cant use the PW anyway with the MotW. but i agree with you all that this build probably isnt cost effective, thanks for your help
