Photographing a Red miniature.

Hello all, I have a recent WiP of either a Blood Drinkers or Flesh Eaters Assault Marine that I'd like to post up, yet I'm having a hellish time getting it photographed.

You see, the miniature is a dark, bloody, red colour...Except for that whenever I take a picture it comes out looking PINK! I've tried it in different types of lighting, Flash, No flash, different camera settings. No matter what it always comes out looking pinkish. I'm really getting irritated as I'm actually kinda happy with this miniature so far, yet can't really post it up due to the camera messing with the colours.

If anyone has any tips for photographing a red miniature and making the photo stay true to the actual colour I would appreciate the help greatly. Thanks in advance.

It's Not pink. It's Lightish red.

Points of you get the quote.

Anyway, it sounds like your camera isn't white balancing when you take the shot. Assuming your camera is digital go to your menu and look for something like "Settings" and then for something like "White Balance". Once there it should have some kind of option to messure or sample. What you want to do is put a piece of white paper (NOT Lined paper, but straight white paper) where you want to photograph the model in the same lighting, and move the camera so that the paper fills your view finder. Once you do that, click sample/meassure/whatever. The camera should sample the lighting and understand that the paper is white and makes it's adjustments as needed. Check your camera Manuel for more details. Hope this helps.
