Techmarine Andreas
Have decided to try this whole documenting the creation of a themed Army thing. Have been patiently waiting on the right bits to be available to do a spartan themed Space Marine Army. Thank you Scibor and Chapterhouse for coming through for me :cuss See Pics fo the first few bodies and Helmets put together. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/049.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/052.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/051.jpg I will probably be going with the Blood Angels Codex for teh purposes of weapon load out etc. However doing them as a Grey Knights "Counts As" force has also crossed my mind. What do people think? I can see in my mind some very cool Sanguinary Guard coming from these guys, however the Spear type power weapons from teh GK would be a perfect fit for a Spartan Themed army also. Reichfaust
You gotta go Blood Angels, even the GKs can't best the Blood Angels when it comes to raw melee fury! The spears would look awesome, definitely, and could easily be played as a power weapon or something. Get some GK spear bits and make an awesome BA melee-deathstar-squad! subtlebrush
I really like how their looking so far. I would suggest using the Blood Angels Codex. Way too many people these days playing "counts-as" Grey Knights. red_starrise
What about counts as Black Templars? I like that idea personally just cuz EVERYONE has to play GK or BA anymore. I haven't seen any BT since 3rd Ed personally. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237329-spartan-marines/#findComment-2862497 Share on other sites

Astrum Vinco
Because of the cost of these marines, GK would be best because you need fewer marines and you can afford to lavish more attention and detail to them. BT have an older codex that might not work so well in current gameing practices. I have a friend who plays BT and each game is a struggle because of that limitation. Nickos
You definitely have to do blood angels, they are a great army to play, Just imagine your models as death company, All black, and the hair thing on the helmet red.. Awesome. And as said above, you could get spears and say there power weapons. Good luck at tourneys, though. They look like they won't have enough GW bitz. Techmarine Andreas
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. As much as I love the "Fluff" for teh black Templars I just dont like the codex :P It has to be Blood Angels, and to be honest I hadnt even thought how cool some of these guys painted up predominantly balck would be!!!!! Well here is my 'Test" mini to show where im goin with teh color scheme. This guy is a Vanguard Vet and from my bitz box I found I had a grand total of 3 of the old metal Nemisis Force Halberds form the Metal Grey Knights. I will be using the Single Thruster Jump Pack for my Vanguard Vets and Sanguinary Guard, however without the wings which I truelly hate. I will be honest I am not the world greatest painter. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/073.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/074.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/075.jpg All comments and words of encouragement greatly appreciated :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237329-spartan-marines/#findComment-2862764 Share on other sites
A17roolz
Good basis for the paint... I tend to find washes do little wonders to give the model more depth. Some blazing orange added to the red would make for some good highlights as well, but I do like the model work. Firenze
Not a bad idea, and well executed in terms of models. Have you got a name for the chapter? As long as it isn't too cliche, it should great :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237329-spartan-marines/#findComment-2863079 Share on other sites

darth_giles
Agreed, a very thin wash could help, followed by some drybrushing to bring the bulk of the red back up. DerekLee688
I've been looking at the same parts. Lambda marines come to mind. If you bought more than one scibor spartan part, then you know you got plenty of lambda's to paint. If you are also considering some Scibor parts be advised even what he lists as his small shoulderpads are just to big for Power Armor Marines. I will be using them on my terminators when I get around to them. Techmarine Andreas
Here is a minor update to my Lambda Marines. That horrible thing called work keeps getting in the way and as Im off to Ft Sill and Ft Bliss for a few weeks on monday, tomorrow is my last day to make any sort of progress on these guys for a month or so  Vanguard Vets with Force Halberds (COunts as Power Weapons). http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/001.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/003.jpg First TH/SS Terminator "Tacked Together" just to see how he looks. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/004.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/007.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/008.jpg Here is the Scibor Mini beside a GW Termi for an idea of scale. I think these bodies will work quite nicely for Terminator Armor. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/009.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/010.jpg Ane here is my attempt at a Counts as Mephiston. This mini is huge so im going to have to come up wiyth some interesting "Fluff" to explain how big he is. Im think unsactioned Experiment with a Rogue Magos Biologis into "Reactivating the geneseed later in teh marines life. Or possibly the chapter has been recruiting from deathworld swhere teh human populace is on teh verge of deviating enough from teh standard human norm to be classed as "Abhuman/Ogryn" http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk297/M777A2/Spartan%20Marine%20Army%20WIP/011.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237329-spartan-marines/#findComment-2866359 Share on other sites
SickSix
Great looking project. However, is it just me or do the scibor pieces look like they need a lot of sanding? Some of the chest pieces look like they have a fairly rough finish to them. Even just getting it of the sprues can be an adventure requiring a Dremel, Razor Saw and lots of patience!!!!
