Wolf Terminators with Cyclone Launchers

Hi all,

Just pricing up some wolf termies but I noticed the cyclone launcher is part of the generic termies, not the SW pack..

Looking for alternatives I saw the missile pods from forge world (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Navy/AIRCRAFT-MULTIPLE-ROCKET-PODS.html). Does anyone have these? Could I be cheeky and ask if anyone has one and a termie, if they could take a photo of the two together to see if the proportions are right. I was thinking one per termie on the shoulder, possibly magnetised.

If anyone has any other alternatives that are a bit more cost effective that would be cool.

Cheers

Tim

Thanks all, I did scour ebay and the like for bits and am on the look out frequently :D I have just remembered my Tau bits will have the SMS and I wont be short of drop pod missile launchers so they look like a good option!
You can also try eBay for the actual cyclone bits, or, if you're in America, try here: http://www.thewarstore.com/product27050.html

;)

$16 for one cyclone missile launcher?!

:)

Yup.

Smart buying eliminates getting housed too badly.

1xSW WGTDA

1xSM TDA

Is the best formula for anyone trying to do a LoganWing. You get the extra heavy weapon bits and the SW WGTDA is already fairly loaded with assault weapons.

I'd agree w/ this, plus the extra storm bolters & power fists are useful to have as well, as is the extra power weapon.

However, the drop pod missile launcher works well as a cyclone ML, that's what I used for my Imperial Fists.

Huh.. could've sworn that site used to have them for $12. Oh well.

the missile launchers from regular droppods work, and while I haven't seen it, I've heard the missile launchers for land speeders work well too

Aye, they work but in IMHO they look like , only because it doesn't fit and look right with the Terminator body. Try to explain to me why the launcher is bigger than the entire body itself? I realize tactical dreadnought armour is suppose to be stronger and heavier than normal space marine armour. But it's kinda whack, over the top and lazy converting. There are plenty of better ways to do it, maybe I'll do a how-to in my thread one of these days.

If you are going to not get the cyclone launchers and you don't want to make the terminators look ghetto and amateurish, what I could do is take a small base, take some rod or small wooden dowel or even a piece of sprue, and mount the sentinel/drop pod/typhoon missile launcher on it, and just put it next to the terminator. It makes for an interesting look and your terminator won't look it was made by Homer Simpson.

That link didn't work for me...

Adding a second (and innocuous) base to the tabletop is asking for trouble. Besides that, we're not the Tau or IG. We don't need nor want drones or artillery teams.

Worst case scenario, model the terminator as having recently ripped the missile silo off a crashed typhoon or drop pod (dangling wires and all) and haul that sucker into battle gripped in both hands like a heavy weapon aughta be!

while holding onto his storm bolter? it's going to be hard to pull-off, especially with the posing :) sure it would look cool though.

Can always maglock the stormbolter to his belt. I do it all the time with helmets.

I can see it work on bolters as their flushed, but storm bolters are boxy. Anyway, on a side note: do people prefer having chainfist, wolf claw or power fist with their cyclone termis? I've always just went with the power fist or occasional wolf claw

Depends on their role. If I'm seconding them to Long Fangs as Pack Leaders, I try an keep them cheap by leaving them with Stormbolter/Power weapon. If I'm leaving them in the Guard pack, I might give them Wolf claws but no more.

I generally prefer my assault cannon to the cyclone, but on the occasion I get enough WG to allow a 2nd special weapon, my cyclone usually stands with one of my Long Fang packs and doesn't see much (if any) HtH combat, so I prefer giving him the cheapest option available.

you could just use one of the grey knights storm bolters. and i like to put a wolf claw with my cml

I like the idea of ripping off someone's launchers and using them...but army wide...again, it looks like Homer Simpson.

Sometimes you just have to pony up and pay for the bit to make your army look right.

And again, there is nothing wrong with the launcher being separate. I mean, we're playing a game were space marines ride giant wolves....
