Professor_Moriarty
Heya guys, I'm a bit new to the Warhammer universe and I decided to go with a TS army but with a slightly more Egyptian theme, especially after reading 'A Thousand Sons'. Was wondering what you guys think of what I've got so far and have any tips? http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233245.jpg My first squad of CSM with Aspiring Sorcerrer http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233357.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233351.jpg My Standard Bearer http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233417.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233423.jpg My as yet unfinished Dreadnought http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233322.jpg A Terminator. I decided to forgo the horns as I didnt think they were very TS. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233208.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/2011-08-30233222.jpg and my Terminator Sorcerer, my pride and joy. A had a lot of fun making this guy and painted him as a treat to myself when I was in a bad mood  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/ Share on other sites
Narse
Look good, very clean. Highly glossy, which can be a good thing for blues and golds of our army. What is giving it the glossy finish? My only complaint would be those multi-colored sand bases draw the eye away from the figure. Drahazar
Looks good I would remove the baseing its way to painful to look at. I would get some sand of some type on there. I am personally not much for Gloss. Your paint job is great but me personally I do not like gloss. Professor_Moriarty
Im not sure why they look so glossy, I only actually used gloss on the eyes, jewels and scarabs. I do have some regular sand floating around. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-2862695 Share on other sites
Kizzdougs
Looking really nice. I love the Egyptian theme that the TS have going for them. To further enhance the Egyptian theme i would suggest using some bits from the Tomb Kings range (WHFB). The Tomb Guard kit is particularly good. I've used several different pieces from the kit to convert my Pre-heresy TS (see my sig for pics). I agree that regular sand would look much better than the multicoloured variety. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing some more pics soon. Lord_Caerolion
I'd say keep some patches of strange-coloured sand amongst the normal sand, but as it is now, it kinda looks like they're invading the planet of jellybeans. Kierdale
The bases are a tad colourful, but I love the heqa staff and the beard on the sorcerer. I'm making pre-Heresy Thousand Sons and, as suggested by kizzdougs, am planning on incorporating parts from the Tomb Kings sets. How about throwing in some ankhs (I'll be having them on my apothecaries) and, using the chaos space marine helmets with horns, put a disc (Green Stuff) between the horns a-la the Egyptian goddess Hathor. I hope that gives you some ideas :whoops: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-2881447 Share on other sites
Professor_Moriarty
Ohhh I do like the sun-disk idea. I live in Melbourne and the Tutankhamun exhibit is at the museum atm, I went and saw it and that gave me some great ideas. I rebased them with a sort of charcoal colour. Professor_Moriarty
Salut all! Thought I'd share with you some of the fun I've been having lately with modelling my force. Complete Terminator Squad http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/TermSq.jpg Technomancer (Dark Mechanicus Techmarine) http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/tech.jpg First of my Assault Marines http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/photo.jpg Daemon Prince http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/DP2.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/DP1.jpg Chirurgeon http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/Apoth.jpg And Command Squad - Sorcerer Lord, Lieutenant, Bodyguard, Standard Bearer, Chirurgeon and Technomancer (obviously not usable as a squad, just a bit of fun) http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/Yon_Moriarty/TS/Command.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-3108328 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Some outstanding work there Prof'! I particularly like the hat on the DP and the winged eye atop the sorcerer lord. Is the hat a Green Stuff sculpt? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-3108398 Share on other sites
Odsox
Coming along nicely but - AWWWW you got rid of the jazzy bases! They looked delicious! :) Od. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-3108602 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
The problem with ankhs is that the ankh is the basis for the Necron symbol. Other than that, still getting more awesome. I love the command squad. Sometimes the silly side-projects that have no playable game purpose are the most fun to put together, no? Professor_Moriarty
Cheers guys. Yeh the hat is green stuff, I was going for the double crown of Egypt (coz he's a Prince ) I do love the idea of the Hathor hat. Kierdale
Cheers guys. Yeh the hat is green stuff, I was going for the double crown of Egypt (coz he's a Prince :D) I do love the idea of the Hathor hat. When I eventually get round to buying Telion (probably sooner rather than later) I want to try to sculpt a single or double crown on him. I went ahead and tried the Hathor-style headpiece on my command squad (page 3 of my WIP thread in my Sig if you want to see it). It wasn't too hard to do and makes for a distinctive look to the unit. I think it'd look great in your army too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237361-egyptian-theme/#findComment-3109840 Share on other sites
