Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
Don't forget that GKTs look a hell of a lot better than their PAGK counterparts. FACT. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237384-grey-knights-all-tda-armies/page/5/#findComment-2865083 Share on other sites
number6
Don't forget that GKTs look a hell of a lot better than their PAGK counterparts. FACT. ;) I don't think anybody can contest this. FACT indeed. ;) As for the continuing assertions regarding Strikers v GKTs and the math behind the assertions ... again, to repeat, I don't actually disagree with any of it. I think about things the way INP does: no matter how accurate the math is, it's still done in a vacuum outside of the real-world bounding parameters of a game. The "truth" of the math is meaningless to me outside the context of an entire army list. Decently competitive army lists can be built without any strikers. Decently competitive army lists cna be built without any GKTs. This says it all to me. :) They're different, play differently, have different strenghts and weaknesses. Just build a list that works. Take the unit(s) that make the list work. Sometimes you'll need both! Gentlemanloser
Pfft! I used to hate the metal PAGK (lords of the dance!) and love the GKT metals. But now, the new plastic PAGK are pure awesome! FACT! :P Better than either the old metal GKT or the new, wide legged, Plastic GKT. ;) Apologies for arriving to this party late, I've just come back from a week in Mallorca. Apart from echoing Fred here, the only other thing I'd add (apart from there is utterly bad balance in the codex between GKT and Strikes, there's no way GKT should cost twice the price of Strikes. Either Strikes are under costed, or GKT are over costed. Whichever way you prefer to look at it, the balance is BAD) is that in a *pure* TDA force, you can't leverage the mathematical advantage of Pallies when list building. Pallies shine over GKT when you can take then alongside other (PA or less) units. I've posted this in older threads, but I'll type it here again for good measure. ;) 10 GKT, 2 Psycannons == 450 points. 5 Pallies, 2 Psycannons == 315 points. You get the same number of TDA wounds (ignoring ID) and Psycannon shots in both options. The Pallies lose Stormbolter shots and CC attacks. But, this ignores the 135 point savings. Enough for 5 Strikes and a Psycannon. Or other units. That's the main benefit for Pallies (yes, they aren't scoring either...). List building with other options from the Codex. Restrict yourself to pure TDA, and GKT are probably going to give you the best bang for your buck. Edit: INP touched on Transports for GKT earlier. While a pure TDA list restricts itself to Stormravens, the better transport option would be a Chimera. ;) And then imagine a 10 man Pally Squad, combat Squadded with 4 Psycannons in a Chimera, with an attached OM Inquisitor with a Psycannon. WooT! <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237384-grey-knights-all-tda-armies/page/5/#findComment-2866025 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
I like a lot of us here have figured out that Draigo is not a mandatory choice when using Paladins. Crynn has posted a solid list in his batte reports thread and tip think it worth taking a lot at to see what he's got cooking. BLACK BLΠFLY
Those are some fun batreps to read. Your list is nasty. It's definitely one of the better mixed lists I've seen... Lots of synergy. G :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237384-grey-knights-all-tda-armies/page/5/#findComment-2867524 Share on other sites
Crynn
Those are some fun batreps to read. Your list is nasty. It's definitely one of the better mixed lists I've seen... Lots of synergy. G :P It doesn't look much on paper, it's definately performed better than I expected it to. The real test will be next weekend at the Australasian Team Challenge as what happens is each team is forced to put up two lists at a time and the team captian can pick a list to go against one of the opponents. So there will be quite a few times where my list should have to face something that is very good at beating paladins. So after this weekend I shall tuely know the strengths and weaknesses of the list. My hope is not to lose any games, win most and draw the ones where the mission and army I face are a bad match up for me. I will also get around to writing those two other bat reps against the 5 rus guard and the nids that I played in the tournament last weekend. Thanks for the vote of confidence though mate!
