I felt that this army had got to such a size that it needed something big, and this was the answer, it was great fun to paint, but it's in no way finished yet, It's also not going to be the last one either, I eventually plan on having another warhound and a reaver in the same colours. In case you're wondering, it's in the colours of the Legio Crucius or the 'Warmongers' for short, and if you know about their background you will know that while they weren't on the traitors side, but to me that doesn't really matter, if I'm going to spend over £300 on a miniature, I'll paint it however I want! I for one am very excited about the stuff that They'll be releasing soon. Of course the new army list has completely re-balanced what is good and what isn't in a heresy era army list, so I need to buy more stuff. I want at least one Full Legion Tactical Squad in mk2 armour (I'm reliably informed that there are no plans to release death guard mk3 shoulder pads in the immediate future). as well as a fellblade and a spartan and god knows how many cataphractii terminators... I'd best get saving! I have more stuff to show off later today, including two new predators, 3 scratch built hyperios defense platforms and a whole army shot. Until then. Anyway, I have to confess that I've been a little rubbish at posting recently, There have been things I've had for ages but haven't posted about or even mentioned such as the warhound which I had almost finished before I thought to post pictures of it! Another of those things is the Rapier Laser Destroyer battery which I've had for ages! These are great models and are really good fun the assemble and paint, and they are pretty mean in game as well, especially when behind a defense line! Here's the photo: http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s402/Cvifepainting/Heresy%20Era%20Death%20Guard/IMG_1302.jpg Next, since 6th ed hit I've found, like many, that flyers are completely broken and that it's important to have some anti aircraft, so I raided my bitz box and found a load of valkyrie multiple rocket pods which I've used to make a unit of Hyperios Air defense launchers. It is similar to the pose I choose for mine. Can you explain what you used for your EC captains shoulder eagle wing. I am working on one and can't find anything for the claw at the bottom. Thanks, I am very pleased with how it came out, I am however considering giving it a red carapace to make it match the updated colours for Legio Mortis. On a different note, My land Raider Proteus won a painting award today! I got a Realm of battle tile as a prize so I can make a cool display board. I'm thinking of going for a Drop Site Massacre theme with a couple of smashed drop pods and a bunch of dead Salamanders, Iron Hands and Raven Guard lying around with the death guard surveying the carnage. The Chaos Space Marine release has been a bit of a distraction for the last few weeks, but I am finally getting back to my favorite army. I recently spent over £250 on more forgeworld stuff, in the hopes that I'd be able to adapt this army for the army list in betrayal. While this plan was completely successful, I found a new problem. I played one game at 2000 pts and quickly descovered how broken it is for normal games as I crushed my opponent in a way that wasn't even funny (pride of the legion is a disgusting rule!). So, until my regular opponents start getting their heresy era collection off the ground, I will be forced to stick to the Space Marine Codex (or Chaos Space Marines if my opponant doesn't mind me completely disregarding the Champions of Chaos rule). This one is going to have the claw arm with a plasma blaster and a twin linked lascannon, But I plan to magnitize it so that it can have whatever I need it to have. I have almost finished the first 5 Catphractii terminators, all they need is the Symbol of the death guard painted onto their shoulders, but I won't do that until they do well in a game! A trip to my friendly local games shop that isn't GW for paint the other day got a little out of have when I realized that they had the new Wall of Martyrs set in, so I bit the bullet and bought one. This is a fantastic kit which is full of flavor and character, not only that but it is absolutely enormous, easily dominating a 2' x 4' board, which means that in my opinion £100 is very good value! I decided to experiment with it and paint it exclusively with my airbrush and not use a 'normal' paintbrush at all.
