sockwithaticket
Hello everyone just thought I'd get a bit of feedback on my HQ choices for a DIY chapter called the Crimson Tears. I paint from time to time as a relaxtion method within my limited means and ability, so fluff and adequacy for gaming aren't high on my list of priorities. The only thing I really have in mind is that I want it to be a martial chapter with emphasis on close combat (when I first started this army it was 4th edition and I could give tactical marines bolt pistols and chainswords with the chapter inventor thing), but also quite a young one. So no Terminators, Dreadnaughts or Landraiders; the 2nd Company is a de facto 1st Company and contains the veterans. Before I post the actual HQ's thought I'd give an example of a tactical marine and a Sternguard Vet so you egt an idea of the army scheme and iconography. Basically it's Chaos Black, Skull White and Red Gore for armour whilst for weapons and bits of trim it's Red Gore, Mithril Silver and Tin Bitz. I have a few other paints like Bleached Bone and Snot Green which I use for specific details like purity seals and power weapon wires. Tactical Marine: http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0739.jpg A fairly blobby version of the chapter symbol http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0740.jpg Tactical squad insignia - dagger/sword to indicate a close combat marine and, somewhat hidden by the angle, a tactical arrow. http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0742.jpg Sternguard Marine (ammo guy): http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0746.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0747.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0748.jpg All the Sternguard unit pads will have some combination of a laurel, a templar cross and a small blood drop/crimson tear by way of unified yet unique insignia. http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0750.jpg The actual HQ's! A librarian and techmarine. I have a finished Chaplain but I'm not happy with the model and might do a rebuild. Have parts for a captain too. Librarian (essentially a grey knight with book icon bits): http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0760.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0761.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0766.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0769.jpg Very Wip arms. When attached they should make it look like he's thrusting with the power weapon whilst preparing to block with the staff. http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0770.jpg Techmarine: I never liked the old models and the new ones are just far too expensive, but I'd never had any ideas how to make plastic servo arms or acquire the right head until recently: Custom servo arms http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0776.jpg Counts as the flamer+ plasma cutter on the servo harness http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0778.jpg Reverse angle with Mechanicus pad http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0779.jpg Body http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0780.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/s...nt=RIMG0782.jpg I'm not sure about his left arm yet. I kind of want a bionic bit but the Commander chainsword arm has an awkward pose for converting. Does the right had servo arm look okay on the big gun 'part of the servo harness', or should it find a place on the back pack? I have some Cadian fuel tanks to fill in the gap between the flamer cable and the pack. Thanks if you took the time to read this, any comments welcome.
