tiny sam
I was more thinking at the level of the astartes and not where they came from, but yeah, why not. :P like Sergent Instructor : "All right Lads! Look at your squad mates! If the primarch and the Emperor permit your going to pass the next 500 years with them. you'll train with them, fight with them, rest with them, eat with them and eventually THINK like them! Or even : "The orks are charging! The beasts are comming and among them, one is towering the others. This one is big even for an ork, quickly think Kydon. The huge dark green Nobz runs toward Brother Kydon, holding an axe that could cut a land speeder in two. Quickly analysing, the space marine makes a side step and slash the green beast with his combat knife as it pass. The beast is not dead, but he does not need to turn to finish it up. No, Brother Nyrak is just behind him and knows what to do. He knows that at an instinctive level, where are all his battle brothers, what they are doing and what they will do. Such is the link that bounds the follower of the Dragon Cult. Such is the link that bounds the Dragon Lords." DarkLiege
how about lightning claws are exclusively for the assault troops of the army, where they can fly with the jet packs like wings and the lightning claws will be like a dragons' claws coming down upon the enemies. The chapter master also have a pair of lightning claws that is passed down from one chapter master to the others. tiny sam
I think (i might be wrong) that you should keep it more generic at first take as an example the dark angel, what is important to know about them is the fallen part, not the fact that they field all terminators army. don't know if you see what I mean? DarkLiege
i think i kind of get what your trying to say but at the same time not. i can't really think of something important to the dragon Lords that really make them stand out amongst other space marines. If I may suggest, perhaps play up the brotherhood angle of it? How far can you take that? Are there rituals involved, what happens when Marines who are so closely bonded see battle brothers die, is there anything disturbing involved that might worry outsiders? There are some things I could see you doing. It might not be distinctive enough on is own but its a start. WeaponAdept
I'd definaty paint my power weapons with a firey pallet. If you're good with GS sculpt flames on them. How about a unique pattern of chainsword that keeps the teeth covered with promethium? Napalm type bolter shells? DarkLiege
just want to get this out of the way first. Thinking about the homeworld and the species of the homeworld. Here it goes: the dragon Lords homeworld is almost the same as the volcanic world of the Salamanders with one thing that is the opposite. Instead of a volcanic death world, it is an Ice world and the Equator of the planet is lush with jungles and rivers. So Basically, the world is 2/3 ice and 1/3 jungle and mountains. the natives of the world is a nomadic race which glides are using primitive tools in which they call: Delta Glider. it has been known that they would come together every few years to hold a contest to see whose swifter, stronger, and smarter. the weather on the planet is unpredictable since anything could happen in a split second. the roar of the wind could tear a man to piece, the waves of the ocean can be calm or violent. Above all there creatures all around stalking. the Dragon Lords Fortress monastery is located at the highest mountain dubbed, The Dragon's Fangs. the Species of the planet are more or less dragons of there own right. i'll list a few to give you guys so ideas. Wyrdraks: a Medium size dragon that travels in groups of 20 or more. they eat both plants and other animals. Since they are one of a few medium size dragons, they are fast and agile. the Wyrdraks sports two pairs of wings, but mostly use one pair for faster mobility. this dragon is a cross between a Dragon and a wyvern. they dart through the air searching for food and are sometimes known to be scavengers attacking the larger dragons just for their food. Wyrms: a Large size dragon that usually live along in the frozen north. This dragons are both feared and awe by the natives as gods. they are slow but has a tougher hide and tons of power to pack. the Dragon Lords hunt the Wyrms to gain access to become a part of the 1st company. It has been known that only a few thousand of these beast still live. the Wyrms have wings, yet mostly never use it. the wings are used as an emergency, for what the dragon lords does not know. Drakes: a small to medium size dragon that instead of flying in the air, is walking on land. it has been known that the drakes are the most dangerous dragons since it is vivacious and territorial. the drakes are highly intelligent as a land hunter operating in packs of up to 15 drakes. Armed with a vast array of weaponry that could shred any man foolish enough to enter. instead of breathing fire from their mouths, they instead spread poisonous gas. their mouths are full of bacterias more lethal than anything. P.S: these are just my though on the homeworld of the dragon lords and the different species on the planet. the names of the dragons will be real life names known to everyone just you search them up just with a twist to things. More or less, i'm trying to say that the Homeworld is fill with dragons both in the seas, in the air and on land. tell me what you think of this wiht C&C please. Commander S. Caesare
"...the Emperor slaying the Dragon of Mars..." Sorry that I typed this. Just hearing about Dragons made me warp to this page. Sooo...for your Dragon Lords, are looking at Heavy-Flamer Land Speeders and Hover-Bikes? 'cuz I feel that goes well with the lore of the Delta Glider contest, which could apply to an Astartes's later life. DarkLiege
as stated by tiny sam, i'll be useing fast attack units like bikes, land speeder and assault squads. the delta glider contest will have a big influence on their later history of being a space marine. thinking of placing the fortress monastery on a moon overlooking the planet for potential recruits. DarkLiege
companies names are named after the dragons of their homeworld and at the companies role in the chapter. these companies have squads called, "Dens". tiny sam
Dens???????????????????????????? instead of naming the companies with the dragon, they could use it as an emblem/part of war cry example the 1st company could use the iconography of the "Great White Dragon" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/237672-iadragon-lords-wip/page/2/#findComment-2880493 Share on other sites
DarkLiege
the "dens" are the name for each squads of marines similiar to saying Beta or delta like the military does. Now that you mention the dragons name of being an emblem, i'm thinking that each company does their own company banner. this goes the same for their war cry. thanks, Tiny Sam!! Shinzaren
the dragon Lords homeworld is almost the same as the volcanic world of the Salamanders with one thing that is the opposite. Instead of a volcanic death world, it is an Ice world and the Equator of the planet is lush with jungles and rivers. So Basically, the world is 2/3 ice and 1/3 jungle and mountains. Above all there creatures all around stalking. the Dragon Lords Fortress monastery is located at the highest mountain dubbed, The Dragon's Fangs. This is really hard to read, but I think I get the idea. Basically the idea is of a very vibrant and dangerous world. Lots of life and growth, but all of it wants to kill you, even the weather. Armed with a vast array of weaponry that could shred any man foolish enough to enter. instead of breathing fire from their mouths, they instead spread poisonous gas. their mouths are full of bacterias more lethal than anything. I like dragons too. They are pretty sweet creatures. You've taken the theme a bit far though... Dragon Lords, talking about 3 different types of dragon like creatures, discussions on spitting fire. A tap hammer is much more effective than a sledgehammer when it comes to a theme. Subtle wins the day over brute force. Dragons. Check. Anything else about the Chapter? What are they like? What is their personality? Why do they get out of bed in the morning? tell me what you think of this wiht C&C please. I'm unsure if you're not a native English speaker, if you were rushed, or if this is typically how you write, but it is really hard to read. A few mistakes don't matter all that much, but this is really tough on the eyes. Perhaps find someone that could edit your ideas for you? That way you can convey your thoughts as concisely as possible without anything getting lost. That aside, the chapter itself seems kinda... meh. There just isn't much to them that I can see beside Dragons. You need to expand on how the Dragons have affected the Chapter, how the Chapter views the Imperium, the Emperor, and the Primarch, and not just what they call them. You need to explain the motivations and basic theme of the chapter better. Its a good start, and you clearly have an idea of where you want to go, but you need more substance, less style.
