Space Marine = Disappointment.

Well I went up to Gamestop and got the game last night. Installed it and played some of the campaign last night. This morning it's been PvP all day. And......well I am bored already.

It's basicly 4 maps. That's it. Just 4 maps and 2 mission types.

I was hoping to see some good maps and some awesome game types. But as always it's too little.

Call of Duty had 8 maps and 6 mission types. I was hoping for the same.

So that is my only complaints on the PvP side. No depth. Too few maps.

As to the Campaign side, if I hear "Space Marine!" in that dorky ork or gretchin voice again. I swear everything in the game screems it. It's old. What about Die Umie die. Or kill the pink skin! But no it's the same thing over and over.

Come on and give me a MMORPG Mass Effect game. So I can get my Power Armor and future weapon and psyker fix in a fun futureistic way. And not have to hear the same phrase a million times.

CoD also had Activision throwing monay at it! CoD out sell every game out there, so they know they'll get their money back.

4 Maps isn't a bad start and of course ther always room to create more I think you are expect to much. This is their first atempt at a FPS and it seem pretty good so far

Sorry you're not enjoying it. It's definitely not packed with enough variety to be the only game you play, but it's pretty good for a beginning. As they make more money on it I'm sure we'll get DLC map packs that will either be cheap or free. (For instance, the upcoming co-op mode for October is said to be free.) I had a great time with it. It's like Team Fortress Lite skinned over with my favorite thing ever.

I agree with Thade, but everyone has their output. Comparing it to other games doesn't give anything but remorse. It is it's own style and Orks only have the vocabulary of an elephant, so it should be expected. I've come across several different voices with the orks and gretchin.

I love the game, especially if you get a squad going like I do with my boys, then it makes multiplayer that much more enjoyable.

I think the co-op mode is called "Exterminatus" mode. I can't wait for that, discipline line of fire or straight assault classes to get in the mix...thank the Emperor.

I agree about the lack of maps, but I'm enjoying everything else about it.

The maps vary in size from what is given, some small, some large, some in between. I look at it as a nice thing, start small, look at the attention to the detail and work given, let grow in popularity for the game to take off, then bring in DLC. It will work out in the end. There is always logice thinking behind great companies and Relic and THQ have done some very nice and amazing work with the GW IP. I look forward to see what the minds will bring forth next.

Whilst I can't wait to play this game, I have a feeling it's multiplayer will get old real quick. It's solo player will likely have DLC expansions and be long lasting, which is a good thing, especially if they provide a co-operative campaign.

What will annoy me is paying for an enhanced multiplayer experience, since it should have been in there from the start.

I think it will actually be the exact opposite. The solo is fun, but unless you like Ultrasmurfs, it will get old. Even if they release new missions and chapters for solo play, you will likely have to pay for that. The multiplayer on the other hand I think will last much longer. It's not perfect, but there is time and room for the not so perfect parts to be fixed. Don't forget that the Co-op mode, Exterminatus, is supposed to come out in October, and it is supposed to be free. Overall, it is a great game and the multiplayer has far more good things than bad things.

I love the game; I'm playing through on Hard, and while not nearly as hard as God of War 3 on hard (starting), its given me a good challange so far. I can't wait to try out the MP; I didn't expect too many maps to start honestly. Just like CoD, Gears, and all of those other games, more maps I'm sure will be on the way in short order

I had hoped for more in multiplayer. The unlocks are much too easy IMO. It's day 2 and Im fighting lvl 38 Marines. Pretty insane.

As stated, more maps and more scenario types. Even 2 more would have been nice (Jungle/Death world? And Hulk with doors that open and close for instance. Hulk capture the flag style with your enemy trying to board and defenders fending off)

The single is fun.

Was it worth the $49.99? I think it's a bit overpriced, but if you are a fan of Space Marines, its worth the extra cash.

.

Well I like alot about it. I am just disappointed it only has 4 maps. And the games are fast, so you sysle through them so fast. They needed 8 like most shooters have. it seems to be the best number for starting maps. Then you can bring out packs of 4 as DLC. And I could see a small fee for the new maps.

And the "Space Marine! this/that/die/go away!" gets so old.

Indeed I thought of a Space Hulk board too, with Capture the flag as well.

I woudl also like to see a Demolition one. Where you have to blow up the other sides ammo dump, or something.

Capture the flag would redult in Assault marine matches thou. All sides all bouncoing around. lol

Been playing multiplayer for the past 2 days straight and I can't get enough. It's the kind of game that has begun with an excellent foundation. What will make or break it as a classic is whether or not Relic supports it, adding new maps, new game modes, and a co-op campaign mode of play. They laid the foundation, now they have to flesh it out. That's really all it comes down to.

My copy should've arrived home today, hopefully my flat mates signed it for me... will see. So I haven't played anything but the demo, but from what I played, it's not really a clone of any game so it shouldn't really be compared as such. If anything, the best comparison I've heard for it is "When Gears of War meets Devil May Cry", it pretty much sums it up well.

But yeah, I will judge the game on it's own merits, but I can see how some people may get bored of it fairly quickly. I won't be thinking "CoD" in my head all the time, but that might be down to the fact I got fed up with CoD at Modern Warfare 2. £50 for pretty much the same game as the one before? Yikes.

;)!!!!!!!! Why can't I get online with this game????!?!?!?!?! On ps3 the game tells me I need to change my nat type to open... All the forums I've checked say my setting at 2 are good. Can anyone shed light on this please? If I can't play online I'm returning it. Stupid game!!!!???

isnt it a Third Person Shooter?

Also Firewarrior came before space marine. ;)

So is it an improvement on Firewarrior?

Do they get the weapons more or less right like fire warrior did?

I've had a good experience with multiplayer. If anybody decides to take it upon themselves to chastise you (or anybody) for game play skill (or a perceived lack thereof) the MUTE button is very easy to find for that player. Worst case you're toggling on/off ten voices until that one jerk is silenced for good. <3

Otherwise, I've been on a few teams now where we communicate and work together (in Seize Ground) and it's been a great time.
