I'm using regular hand soap off the bathroom to clean my brushes... So far it cleans them WAY BETTER than Water, tho I use it as soon as I'm done using a color (Well DUUH! lol). Anything you guys use other than all that fancy expensive stuff? So far the one brush I've used it on still paints good, but I haven't tried it on my Citadel: "FINE DETAIL BRUSH", cause is soooo thin, makes me think that it will damage the shape of the bristle.

Soo... what do you guys use?

I use bottled water then every now and then a quick dip in hair conditioner.

Have you found the bristles aged quicker without using the conditioner?

I would stay away from commercial hand soaps and dish soaps, they will dry the natural hair fibers out., Besides, I have had a tub of "Master' s Brush Cleaner" now for close to 2 years, cost me under $5.00 that is a pretty good return.

Conditioner is great for your brush, it helps restore it's "spring" What I do is wet the brush down with clean water, clean accordingly, then put a small amount of conditioner on my finger, gently roll it in, then let it sit over night, next morning, I just rinse it out, works wonders. I would not say the brush looses it's shape or gets old, it just looses it's spring over time, the conditioner helps restore that.

Is brush conditioner much different from hair conditioner?

Yes, I just use my wife's hair conditioner.

One problem came to mind about using hair conditioner. Many of them contain timethicone (or some other -cone that basically means silicone) which is supposed to make your hair feel nice and smooth but does it by basically wrapping it in plastic. I'd stay away from any -cone containing conditioner.
