The holy Bolter should not be left behind.

Upon a serious note, there's no reason to go without it. For once in my life, this is going to sound odd.

If I may be so kind as to remind the OP, consider please that Deathwatch and Space Wolves both fought with Bolter and Chainsword for a very long time. If anything, I've also noticed that there's a slight pause that one can get into in terms of firing a bolter which seems to closely match the charge timer pause while firing said bolter.

To put it simply: Tap-tap, pause; tap-tap, pause; charge. Ad infinitum.

I use both the pistol and the boltgun. Boltgun is far more accurate and powerful at long range. The bolt pistol not only does almost-as-good damage at close range, but it's very easy to fire/swing/fire/swing intermittently with the pistol (much faster transition) so you can easily fire as you close distances to continue swinging, softening up your target.

I should add that - later on - the Thunder Hammer restricts you to pistol boltgun, and I REFUSE TO PUT DOWN MY THUNDER HAMMER so the plasma pistol sees a LOT of use.

I didn't realize the melee transition was faster with the pistol, I just assumed it was there for when you ran out of ammo (since it has unlimited ammo). I also notice that there are chainsword pickups available later on. I thought the power axe simply an upgrade, does the chainsword offer something the axe doesn't in this game?

I tried to mess around with that sticky-bomb launcher but found it ate through ammo too fast. It did give me a good chuckle when I stuck one on the face of an ork, causing him to freak out and run around into another mob before I blew them all up. Right now I'm most happy with the melta gun and lascannon as my extra weapons. The meltagun is great for frying large groups or tough enemies up close, and the lascannon is nice for hitting tough enemies at range and functions surprisingly well as a sniper rifle when needed. I don't think I'm even halfway through the game yet so we'll see if that loadout changes.

The chainsword strikes faster but does less damage than the power axe, and thunder hammers are alpha strike weapons meaning that you need to hit hard and 1st in order to survive.

Theres too many assault marines in MP, but thats good for me as a Tactical player. They are easy kills once you have the measure of them.

when the assaults get to be annoying, I switch to my kicking devl. Both kicking perks, and use only the bolt pistol. assaults come in you do a slight dodge and hit em with a high speed super stomp than plow them with the pistol, continueing to stomp everytime it comes of cooldown. confuses the hell out of assaults/raptors who thought you an easy target.

Too many noob Assault Marines online. They give away a lot of kills to Tact Marines that know how to deal with them. But a good Assault Marine player is able to drop down, surprise the enemy and jetpack out before the other enemies turn to help. Can be extremely effective

That's my problem, as an Assault I'm VERY aggresive so my life expectancy is measured in seconds, but I can create alot of havoc in those seconds. And every second they're on me, they're not on my teamates.

As long as your teammates K/D ratio makes up for that that's fine. But going 0-9 means a lot of slack for others to pick up

Ah, thank you, that makes sense.

Has anyone messed with a Devastator in multiplayer? I'm a fan of the big guns myself.

My class really depends on the map being played, but I like using the Lascannon or the Plasma Cannon on some maps, can be quite effective

For any UK Xbox 360 players who are playing it this weekend, the THQ UK Community team are going to be online starting out on Friday 16th September through till Sunday 18th September!

If you're going to be around over the weekend and want to have a game with the team then you need to follow this link where you will find details on how to sign up and the teams gamertags you need to add.

The team will also be giving out prizes over the weekend to lucky participants! <_<

On most of the levels SM offers for an Assaut marine I run havoc all over the place mainly by sneaking around mostly running around only useing the jump pack to leap onto 'strike spots', and to leap onto 'prey'. I play just like I play on the table fast, and with many casualties in my wake.

If the enemy has to many DEVs/ Tacs ill snipe them while there to busy trying to aim at other devs or jumpers.

The game is based on limited number of differences that all have to be earned. With that for Noobs its a hard struggle to get up in rank while you opposites run around with Storm Bolters with multiple perks.

I use it simple a bolt pistol I seem to never use, and a power sword a swinging away.

Small note guys. I've been playing with a small group of friends (one of whom im trying to rope into the full hobby). As per many of the more inexperianced players my friend tends to stick to the T-Hammer and get stuck in as fast as he can. Those of us who understand the weapons tend to sit back with Bolters. It gives the enemy a choice, kill the Assaulter of deal with the hail of bolter fire.

So just as the Chapter gives us strength, so to does the Combat squad. Look to your brothers for salvation. AkA talk online and get a strat going.
