TDA WG lack of Power Weapon sprues

I wanted to put together a "cheap" version of our WG so all with TDA 3 SB/PW 1 CM/CF 1 SB/PW CML. Since the box only comes with one PW "which I find odd since its the standard load out", I am having trouble finding Space marine TDA Power Weapons.

What conversions do you do or where do you find the bits?

Try the terminator power weapon from the Dark Angels sprue.

BitzBox sells them for £1.50 and at this point have two in stock.

Also about $1.60 - $2.00 on ebay.

Multiple places for me honestly. I bought my GW TDA w/ a SW BF & 2 SW accessory sprues so I had about 12 additional power weapons that were wolfy to begin w/, not to mention several vanilla marine power weapons. Simply lop off the hand & attach it to the TDA wrist.

And I wish GW would coincide the fluff dept w/ modelling dept as a frostblade is supposed to be a chain weapon w/ kraken teeth instead of the metal tines not a power weapon but yet GW's frost weapons in terms of models are power axes ;)

from my understanding of frost weapons they can be anything really the krakenpattern is just happen to be pictured.

but try the vanilla terminator box set.

From the Codex:

Frost Blade or Frost Axe

Amongst the most prized weapons of the entire Chapter, each frost blade and frost axe is crafted by a master Iron Priest. Many frost blades use the diamond-sharp fangs of the Ice Kraken for their chainsaw blades. Frost axes are sometimes made from energised diamond, giving them the appearance of blades forged from purest ice. Regardless of what they look like, all frost blades or frost axes are power weapons that add +1 to the user's Strength.

It's not all about the pretty pictures.

While I do agree the power weapons are limited (only two including the axe), it's easily remedied with some simple conversions. The sprues come with 4x t-hammers that can have the blunt end snipped and replaced with an axe blade (genuine GW or plasticard) as well as several arms that can be modified in holding a weapon from the PA SW box set, etc. The power sword in both boxes is the exact same size, but the PA one(s) have runes etched on the blade - better imo!

As for frost weapon vs power weapon, being that frost weapons ARE in a sense power weapons, I paint all my power blades how I would expect frost blades to look and use it as either one, depending on my army list write-up.

Steal some Greyknight arms. They have a plethora of power weapon options.

Definitely. Grey Knights players rarely use their Nemesis Force Swords on their Terminators (usually only on the Grand Master), in favor of Halberds and Hammers. You could probably work out an easy bits swap with any local Knights player and save on shipping, too.

I suppose very few folks go with the all-cheap option of just sticking with the stock Power Weapons. Most of us that use WGT, use a variety of weapons (particularly Wolf Claws), however, 330 points for 10 WGT with no upgrades is hella cheap for their durability and effectiveness.

Valerian

If you do not mind having to cut the hand off I have found the weapons from the regular SW pack box to work just fine with my WGT's. The hands are pretty close to the same size if not the same size, plus they already have glyph's and ruins on them.
If you're not too worried about the lack of wolfy imagery on them, the nemesis falchions from the PAd Grey Knight box are good. I don't know of many Knight players that use falchions so any players in your area should have a few left over. They're one handed so fit in well.
