I'm finally ready to start this project and so am starting a new thread to log my progress. :D

 

The Knights of Draconis.

The planet Charr is located in the eastern fringes. It is a Forge world with many hives and spires that draw their power from great volcanoes. To the north of the planet lies a vast mountain network, inhabited by the Megadons, native creatures of the planet, giant reptillian creatures that breathe fire or plasma.

At the centre of this mountain range lies the fortress monastary of the Knights of Draconis. The knights recruit from the nearby hives, their serfs selecting the most fierce and resourceful of their gangers and occasionally from the forges themselves.

The initiates are trained and taught the chapters histories while thier bodys are implanted with the organs that will one day make them space marines. They are taught the way of the dragon, the unique lore that governs how the Knights wage war across the stars, and then, they are sent out in teams to the mountains without armour and only basic weapons like spear and sword for their protection and tasked to return only after slaying one of the mighty Megadons. Most do not survive the trial.

Those that do have proven themselves worthy of joining the chapter and are given the precious geneseed that will transform them from lowly human, to Adeptes Astartes.

The 10th company of the Knights are permemantly garrisoned on Charr, to train the new recruits, and to protect the planet and system in which it calls home. In return for this protection the Mechanicus of the forges arm and armour the Knights fresh from the forges. As a result the chapter has some of the newest wargaer in the imperium.

The Knights never practice the use of scout squads, they beleive that once a recruit has passed his test he is a brother and deserving of that title. However new brothers, untested in war will be given the responsability of driving the chapters transports to give them a taste of real battle while still remaining relitivly safe.

Those that show promise will be given the oppertunity to pilot one of the chapters many other machines of war. The rest will join the tactical squads. Most will serve the remainder of their days here until the time comes where they will give their lives for it or be retired to the 10th company because of old age or greivous wounds that prevent them from fighting on.

Finally there are those rare few who excel at their craft, who prove time and time again that they are special, those valiant few are promoted to the terminator squads, and earmarked for command of their own one day.

The Way of the Dragon teaches that the leaders of the Chapter are the head of the dragon. Wise, cunning and ever watchful. The weapons they use are the breath of the dragon, be it flame, plasma or the searing heat of the melta's. The vehicles they drive are the hide of the dragon, strong and almost impenetrable. The Land Speeders are the wings of the dragon, fast and agile, ready to strike where they are needed most. The terminators take the role of the dragons claw, striking with mighty blows from their thunder hammers. Finally the Dreadnoughts are the dragons teeth, for it is said that if you take the tooth from a slain dragon, and plant it in the ground, a new and immortal warrior shall rise to fight by your side.

This is my colour scheme. They will have blue flames on the armour, so substitute the icons for fire, and the black will be metallic black. This may change as I actually put paint to plastic!

And finally here are the first WIP pics!!!

Theres going to be alot of sculpting and converting work done to this force. First up is my venerable dread. Love this model, its actually got heavy flamers mounted to the side of the hull so I may take off the one attached to the powerfist.

and my ironclad, I used a dreadknight hammer for his seismic hammer, looks alot better than the standard one! He still needs alot of work, sculpting on the armour plates, a ccw for his right arm, and im not sure how to do the marine part so I need your feedback! Do I leave it open so the marines body is on show, or close it up so he is just peeking out of the sarcophagus?
