Hey guys,

Some of you may have seen "my first ever painted minature" topic a while back -

Well "hot on the heels" of that .... or not :D comes my second minature, i took some time to scoure youtube and here for various techniques to broaden my spectrum and painting ability.

Im not going to lie, im really happy with how this mini turned out, only took 6 or so hours including assembly and painting so im speeding up!

This mini was more based on the original scheme i had in mind from my original intro post

The only changes i made were, i darkened the grey armour down more so that the "white" of the shoulder pads "popped" a little bit more, and choose a lighter blue.

Any C&C is most welcome, im desperate to learn

Thanks

I was recently was looking at my early miniatures and if this is your second ever painted miniature, may I say it kicks 11 shades of bestial brown out of my, what, 50th? Great work!

However, C&C is what you requested, so C&C is what ye shall received, brother. Did you thin your paints? I tend to to find 2 or 3 coats of thinned paint (about the consistancy of milk) works better than 1 layer globbed on top, and has a smoother finish. This goes for the highlights too. Also, I highly recommend using washes. They seek out the indents in the model and give the area more definition (although I tend to use them only in the indents).

Also, and this is more of a practice thing so don't worry about getting this spot on right away, try to keep all your highlights at a roughly consistant width. Again, if they're watered down they tend to blend better and look less like odd patches of colour.

All in all though, brilliant job, keep up the good work!

I'm calling BS on that being your second paintjob....Just kidding. ;)

But DAMN! :D If that's only your second, you've put a lot of us to shame. Keep it up, and soon you'll have Golden Daemon awards filling your pockets. I really like the smooth blue.

Thanks guys. Yes, most paints have been thinned, the grey was VMC Ghost Grey mixed with black grey and mixed 1:1 with VMC glaze medium. then applied p3 armor wash liberally over the model, built it back up with the original mix leaving the recesses, then edge hilighted with 1:1 ghost grey and glaze medium. My line consistency is just poor lol. The white is actually VMC white grey with skull white highlights but I must admit this was thicker. I didn't have the patience lol.

I shall water my paints down even more in the future
