Forté
Hi. Before I get put in front of the firing pack, I have tried the search and the fu in this one must be weak so please don't beat me with the exterminatusock (Mav). Here's the basics..... What is your favorite load out for your Wolf Priest and how do you use him in your games? I want to include one, purely because I love the idea of them and they make for a great miniature in your force. But...I cannot decide on how to equip and use him so what better than to get input from those of longer tooth and experience. Cheers in advance. spacewolflars
I have two. The first has a regular load out and a bike so that he can lead a unit of swift claws. The second can use either a jump pack to lead skyclaws or the jump pack is magnetized so that he is straight out of the codex. When he is on foot I put him into a Land Raider Crusader with 14 blood claws and a wolf guard with twin lightning claws. The only thing that I give him on top of this is maybe melta bombs if I have the points left over and nothing to spend them on. Gamewise the blood claws bucket load of dice maximizes the use of his re-rolls through the oath. Also, you don't have the blood claws being 'kited' around the board via the 'headstrong' rule. Story wise, you have the old & wise wolf priest teaching the young blood claws. dswanick
Stock, plus a Wolftail Talisman and Jump Pack leading my pack of Skyclaws. With points available, I'll upgrade him with Runic Armor and a Wolf Tooth Necklace. Valerian
My Wolf Priest just gets Melta Bombs, and SotH so he can lead a large pack of my Wolf Scouts into close combat behind enemy lines. Silverwolf
Mine don't really have a "normal" role, tending to switch things up between lists. But basically leading Blood Claws in a 'Raider, a pack of Skyclaws or Swiftclaws, or attached to some Wolf Scouts. I keep him cheap, generally only giving him Melta bombs, and whatever is needed to work with whatever unit he is with (ie, Jump Pack, SM Bike, or Saga of the Hunter). I see Wolf Priests as being pretty much complete in terms of gear as they come, and they do their job quite well. I do sometimes try to find the points for a WTT for him though (Or swap the melta bombs for it) When I know I'm facing my mate's GK. Blacksad
runic armour, Saga of the hunter / runic armour, jump pack, meltabombs / runic armour, saga of the warrior born, SM bike are the most common ways I field them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238218-wolf-priests/#findComment-2875349 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Plasma Pistol / Runic Armor / Melta Bombs / Wolf Tooth Talisman / Wolf Tooth Necklace / Saga of the Hunter Leading a 5 man scout unit, MG and MotW with attached WG CM/TH. If you have turn 1, don't even worry about OBEL just infiltrate them into cover and have them support a small 1 or 2 DP force, Very nasty surprise flank attack! elithren
Love my priest setup with RA, Saga of the hunter, and sometimes WTN(find that the roll from PE is more then enough). Stick him with an 8 man hunter pack with attach WG in drop pod and land it in cover and enjoy the 3+ cover save. Take that, Tau gunline! Bikeninja
I have gotten into the bike thing. Now I hate swift claws so what I do is I run a Wolf Lord on Bike with x3 Wolf GUard on bike and then my wolf priest. Absolutley expensive. They are fun, I think they are more manueverable than thunderwolves and so far they have done well and beat face. Its a unit with two invul saves for wound allocation and I have it tricked out for that as well.
