Crimson Justicars

After quite some time of collecting, modelling and painting I can finally field a 1,500 point army from my own chapter, the Crimson Justicars. I still have to write an IA for these guys... it shall be done!

As I collected a lot of inspiration from these boards, I figured it's about time I tried to give some back. And since I completed the first stage of my army, what better time to show some pics than now?

My goal was to complete a decent looking bunch of tabletop quality space marines. I hope you enjoy them!

First up, my terminator librarian. This one is still the old metal version. Lovely model to paint!

Really nice mate! Loving the smooth, crisp, paint work and the colour scheme is tops

May I say as a little side note, I too had the idea of using the missile marine's arm, champion's torso and glowing eyes for my Librarians... great minds think alike eh? :D

Very slick looking army there! I am also curious about where the scout heads are from.

The scout heads are from Pig Iron. This sprue to be precise: http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/hd6-he...prues-p-16.html

I really didn't like the original scout heads, so I searched for an alternative and discovered this sprue. They fit great!

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone!

Definitely given me more motivation to complete some more units for this army. Currently I have a dreadnought on the painting table. Given my record, I will probably finish him in about 4 months.... :nuke: Once he is finished I'll put a picture up!

I really love that red! What colors did you use? I must know!

Considering you've posted this question five times, I'll answer the question! :P

The red really is very simple. It's just a couple of coats of watered down Scab Red, with the recesses in the armor touched with a Badab Black wash. Then highlighted with a 1/1 mix of Blood Red and Scab Red, with (some) final highlights of 2/1 Blood Red and Scab Red.

Hope this helps!

Love it, your army inspires me even though Im a true blue Ultramarines painter. So much so that I've ordered the same heads for my scouts and am going to try an inverse version of that awesome glowy effect you did on your assault marine backpack, using orange to yellow. :( Edited by Megapope

Good to hear! Fellow hobbyists sharing ideas, that was the whole point of this thread. :)

I think an orange glow would do a blue colored marine much more justice indeed, considering the contrast in colors. That's the same reason why I opted to go for a blue glow on my red colored marines. I'm curious how they'll turn out.
