mughi3 Posted September 12, 2011 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Well it has been a while since i have gotten a 40K batrep up. i have honestly been spending a great deal more of my game time on other systems especially the fantastic Infinity, victory at sea, and battletech. We have a guy who rarely comes in on saturdays because he mostly works weekends(state police and all) He wanted a 40K game to keep working on his dark eldar list he was building up. he didn't bother to bring anything else he had (other systems or 40K stuff) and wanted a game. I tried to steEr some other people to get a game in with him becaue i already knew he weould struggle with my seige list and my flying air-cav was straight out the window. Nobody seemed interested so i went ahead and did a game with him. Before we started i went through my army list and pointed out the 2 FW units and the makeup of the army, even telling him where to focus his firepower. He had Veck, another character that attacks enemy characters, 3-4 squads of witches/warriors in raiders, 2 ravagers, a venom with the power weapon guys(+Veck), bike squad, and a melta talos. He won the roll and made me go first. the only tings i put out were the 3 venerable dreads he failed his veck 4+ seize roll with a 3 i procedded to keep all other units in reserve waiting for the table to open up. Turn 1 i managed to kill a raider and drop a few of the riders, i immobilised a ravager and blew the gun off a second raider. On his turn he moved up and shot away at the dreads with lances blowing off a missiel launcher and other-wise knocking 2 of them around a bit so they coulsd not shoot. with so few units on the table(or able to damage me) the round went pretty fast. Turn 2- My dread talon came on dropped the venom, my achllies land raider rolled on and took out a bunch of witches(3 survived to charge my dreads) my one shooting dread immobilised the raider in front of him. His turn- his witched charge, his talos shoots, veck assaults his other character tries to rear shot a dread and the remaining 7 witches out of the first raider i blew moved up. Here is how it faired- witches with haywire VS venerable dreads-victory to the dreads no grenade hits veck-1 grenade hit dread looses an arm, return swing on veck, fails one of two 2+ saves and dies. his unit flees Turn 3 achillies drops the witches across the table on foot, the dreads take the talso down to 1 wound, bray'arth wants to sit this one out-reserve roll failed. his character dies after i assault, Vecks unit gets assaulted reduced to 2 guys. His turn-moves up witches in functional raider. they get out assault 2 ironclads-plant no grenades, get run down by sweeping advance when they flee after i kill the last 2 of vecks unit his talos assaults, rips off guns and immobilises a venerable dread, his other hsooting is innefective. Turn 4 Brayarth finally shows up but now he has to walk becaue the eldar have backed off, dread in combat with talso gets nocked aroudn a bit more, venerable pays for itself with re-rolls and the talos dies. the achillies drops a ravager, the one working dread drops the immobile raider, the ironclads shoot innefectively His last raider moves up disembarks unit shooting immobilises ironclad, more shooting kills the other 2 Turn 5 bray'arth unhappy, nothing to assault...walks across table, dreads kill raider and rip gun off of ravager, land raider fire damages warriors who immobilised ironclad, they are close enough to get flamed by the ironclad as well. taking out the entire squad. Turn 5 he has little left and his shooting is innefective via bad dice rolls to hit. Game ends- KIll points + spearhead eldar score- X2 ironclads .2 Panzer brigade seige force score- X3 raiders X3 witch squads X1 warrior squad .venom .ravager .Veck .other named character .Vecks squad .12 KDR by unit .land raider achillies-2 .bray'arth ashmantle-0 .venerable dreads-5 .ironclad dreads-5 .MOTF-0 .Tac marines-0 The sad part was after the game was over he started complaining about my FW units because he wasn't facing a "normal" (read tournament legal) list. eventhough as you notice by the tally the 6 dreads did the most killing and are availabe in any SM codex list and legal in tourney so long as you take a MOTF HQ. BassWave Posted September 12, 2011 Share Posted September 12, 2011 The end was a little sad, you could of easily just taken a land raider crusader, and a couple of typhoons and done just as well, probably better. Plus the fact that you made an effort of pointing out the two FW units before the game makes his end game behavior pretty inexcusable. It was just a bad match up obviously. Nevertheless good sportsmanship to you and hopefully he learned not to be so eager to die with his pointy ears anymore. Nevertheless good sportsmanship to you and hopefully he learned not to be so eager to die with his pointy ears anymore. Silence! My Dark Eldar live only to spray the kabal tag on the sides of the enemies vehicles! Then as quickly as they arrived they disappear leaving only the tags behind. Good game... I imagine the LR would be more dangerous because of how much damage it can absorb... Although Haywire grenades sort that problem out... So unless he shot at it a lot more than your batrep implies it didn't seem to do that much in this game and Ashmantle pretty much spent the game looking pretty. I don't think this was the greatest DE list and I don't know how he used it but well played to you good sir. No the LR didn't do all that much in that game nor did bray'arth for that matter. the heavy lifitng was all done by the standard dreads.
