ChaosPhoenix
Hi there, I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to paint battledamage on metallic silver armor (e.g. Grey Knights). Ussually I would use a mix of grey, black and silver shades, but the effect totally goes bad for me on metallic silver armor (as expected). How would you do it? puck
I've never tried battle damage on silver armor, but maybe try more "scorchy" effects with blacks, blues, and browns instead of "scratchy" effects. he_plays_guitar
Well technically the armor on space marines is made of layered ceramite. Terminator armor is made of adamantium. So silver space marine armor is only paint. If you want to show the ceramite underneath scratched or chipped paint, paint a black or brown spot, then paint over the spot with codex grey leaving just the thin black background as an outline, then make some more little scratches with fortress grey, maybe even little bits of white inside the shipped area. This will create depth, causing the armor to look chipped away, leaving the ceramite exposed. I'm afraid the greyish outline of the black scratch is too unremarkable on silver armor, at least with my skills B) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238266-question-battledamage-on-silver-armor/#findComment-2874192 Share on other sites
Brother Nihm
Things that don't belong in the tutorials area: Questions that aren't a tutorial for starters. "What color do I highlight Scorpion Green with?" Isn't a tutorial or even a tutorial question. That is for General PCA Questions. "Does anyone want a tutorial on X?" If you have a tutorial then just post it. You can find tutorials that people are looking for in the Tutorial Requests Thread. "Where can I find/buy model/paint/tool X?" Again this is something for General PCA Questions. Basically if it isn't something that isn't a step by step instruction it shouldn't be in here! Topic moved. Urauloth
Depends how bright the silver is - for my iron warriors i'm using a mix of black and scorched brown for the damage with a chainmail underlining, but that's over boltgun metal with a couple of shading washes, I wouldn't go that dark for a brighter silver. If you're working with chainmail or brighter I'd suggest using a black/boltgun mix for the shade and underlining it with mithril.
