Stripping Rhinos...

Sorry to dissapoint those clicking here looking for scantily dressed large mammals, I am talking about the transport.

I have stripped plenty of models using a simple Pine-Sol type cleaner by letting them soak and taking a stiff toothbrush to them. However, considering tha amount of parts on a Rhino as well as being thin wall plastic for the hulls, do any of you do things different when looking to strip Rhinos?

Depends on the primer. I've had some that wouldn't come off for nothing, and some that lift if you look at them crosseyed. The older GW black primer seems to be the worst for not lifting. Testors enamels lift real easy in simple green but don't try using pine-sol or pine-o-pine; you'll get a nasty gooey mess. Haven't tried stripping GW white at all, mostly because I rarely use it.

I've just used the same dot3 brake and transmission fluid for mine (got it 2nd hand with a crap "thousand sons" scheme).

10 minute soak and a scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse with cool soapy water then clean water and it was all good.

[insert obligatory "PPE** is mandatory. This may not be viable for everyone. These fluids can't be just dumped down the sink or drain, but require specific disposal methods. I have three mechanics in my street I can dispose of the expired fluid with.' disclaimer.]

**PPE: Personal Protective Equipment. Gloves, goggles/face screen, long sleeves, Respirator. This crap is bad for your joints with continued exposure (it's why old mechanics have crap joints).
