Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
In the past I built some Twin Linked Autocannon arms out of IG Heavy Weapon Autocannons. I really like the bare gun look, with no shoulder pads / armor and I want to do that again. Thing is, because of Grey Knights, it seems like every freaking IG autocannon gun is sold out or costs a ridiculous amount of money. So what can I use / buy instead, to get the same bare arm, gun only type Rifleman look? The Forgeworld arms are obviously out of contention. Is there anything else out there? breng77
I have seen a lot of people use are the autocannons from the Aegis Defense line kit. Now if you actually buy the kit it is rather expensive ($25 per dread) but you might be able to find those bitz. Or if you also need terrain this is a decent buy. But remember that with one Aegis Defense line you will get both arms for the Rifleman Dread and you will get some barricades for terrian. red_starrise
Here's a WIP pic from a while back of my rifleman dread made from an AOBR dread & 2 predator lascannon sponsons & a predator TLLC turret gun: Â http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x84/red_starrise/40K/Imperial%20Fists/CIMG4608.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x84/red_starrise/40K/Imperial%20Fists/CIMG4566.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x84/red_starrise/40K/Imperial%20Fists/CIMG4565.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238340-rifleman-dread-advice/#findComment-2874692 Share on other sites

Oh I am aware of that , but if you are doing say 6 dreads it adds up. If you get two different sizes of tubing where the inside diameter of one is the same as the outside diameter of the other, then you can slide sections of the larger over the main barrel to make it more detailed (so it is more than just a long tube, but looks like an Autocannon). I did manage to find pre-made barrels, here: http://oldcrowmodels.co.uk/25turrets.htm  So perhaps skill-less me could slap those onto some bolter-ish thing.... Jamafore
Hmm. A couple of those turrets look like they would make nifty Razorback or Pred turrets. Or maybe see if I can't juryrig it on a Land Raider.  Insert evil laugh here. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238340-rifleman-dread-advice/#findComment-2877038 Share on other sites
chromedog
I picked up a few spare plastic dread weapon arms over the years. More than enough assault cannon and missile pod arms. Â One Robogear starter box gave me sufficient autocannon barrels for the task (for two sets of paired arms). Brother Anvilus
It's merely a name for a dreadnought with 2 times twinlinked autocannons.Comes from battletech or soemthing I believe? breng77
A rifleman dread is simply a dreadnought with a twin liked autocannon on both arms. This is a configuration for standard dreads. The rifleman term is just the shorthand/slang term for that configuration. Yeah, name comes from Battletech (except it had a combo of laser and autocannon in each arm).
