bmcsw007
I was planning on magnitizing my Assault Terminators so I can switch between Thunder Hammers and Lightning Claws. I purchase 1/16 x 1/32 magnets from KJ Magnetics and they look a little too small. Before I start drilling holes into my Terminators, what size magnets does everyone else use for arms? Mac the knife
I use the smallest magnets i can get my hands on. The ones from KJ are very strong and I've never had any issue with them not being able to hold things together. Grotsmasha
I'm not sure about the conversion, but I use 3mm x 1mm for infantry and have never had an issue. maverike_prime
I used these magnets for all my magnetizing work and have yet to run into an issue with strength of the attraction. RipherChost
I used these magnets for all my magnetizing work and have yet to run into an issue with strength of the attraction. ^ Get these, I use them aswell. So far I've used them on a predator, landspeeders, power fist/weapon arms, lightning claws, scouts and all flavors of terminators. Since you already have some I would try it out on one arm as a test as those lil magnets are crazy strong. Super-Piglett
They have detailed specifications for all their magnets on the website The 1/16x1/32 N52 magnets pull 0.07lb according to their sheet. That's just over an ounce (Or roughly 5 quarters) which is probably more than the whole model weighs, let alone weapons/arms. 1/16x1/32 N52 http://www.kjmagnetics.com/largergraph.asp...;pName=D101-N52 1/8x1/32 N52 http://www.kjmagnetics.com/largergraph.asp...;pName=D201-N52 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238398-magnitizing-assault-terminators/#findComment-2875469 Share on other sites
striker8
You will probably find 1/16 x 1/32 a bit to small and will work they're not ideal in my opinion. While the pull force is good you have to take into account the leverage you get when the magnet acts as a pivot point and are difficult to get lined up for maximum pull force so magnets that small tend to lead to droopy arms syndrome. I did a squad of Tac Termies not to long ago and made the heavy weapons swapable using 1/8 x 1/16 magnets and the arms stay in place and won't fall off. I did use the 1/16 magnets for the cyclone launcher and that holds well simce I could use the mounting nubs to help lock it on.
