Donutzot
its in in my right to say good luck keeping it small. just start with the battleforce and a razorback or predator make your own choice. build yourself a solid core to advance from and build up from there. Oh and ignore forte and greenhorn they just talk big. Dewi Sant
Have you thought about doing a 400 point combat patrol force? I have the rule from the 4th ed rule book if you would like a copy of them. Its not hard or expensive to start off a small 400 point force and have some fun little games as well. BrotherSargeantDaro
Ha ha. Willhem is often here. Rubbing shoulders and trading words with us Wolves. Not too sure how well us and the Templars would work though. By the time you lot have finished with prayers etc. Us wolves would have already torn the throats out if the enemy and be exchanging tales of heroism over a Mjod or three :) pfff... I'll get you a leash if you want. :( Well, look, I would say one chapter is better than the other. Its just our tradition. Don't confuse prayer with martial prowess. You wolves consider yourselves the best at CC.. and you ARE fantastic... but Black Templars are just as devoted to close combat... kind of Viking vs. Knight. Both are sick.. both are awesome, both are excellent, but both are different... now, this won't stop me form poking some banter at you. ;) We wouldn't be Brother Chapters without said banter, we both manage to do it often enough amongst ourselves in our own sections, why not when talking with other Loyal Chapters? epic fail.. I meant to," I woulDN'T say one chapter is better than another one.." face palm... BrotherSargeantDaro
whew.. sorry for not replying sooner... and lay of the dress!! its called a tabard. For you wolf brains its pronounced TA'H BAHRD...... :eek Let me clarify, I'm not short on money, I'm slow on money. SO I can grow a sizable force, but not in 1 purchase. So far I think I am going to get as follows: SW Battle Force SM Battleforce (thats 10 total scouts btw) Bikes (including some Kromech Ironshark bikes) and 1 or 2 landspeeders. (this will probably be my only violation of the 13th company, but oh well, you guys can holler. Specially you forte and Az :jaw:. just playing with you guys, I love the community here. Thanks for all the replies! but remember, my dress wearing Black Templars are my first love. You guys are my second. It happens.... Wife vs a crush status. Wife vs a crush status. I found some nice 13th company models online... I like the black on dark blue grey... this will be FUN! May we quote you on the dress comment? ;) :D I kid, I kid. Marshal Wilhelm will likely try to knock a few heads around in here for that; oh well, I'm just funnin'. As to the 13th, maybe consider saying, "13th Themed" instead? - You may take vehicles - 13th isn't considered a viable force, as they were when the Eye of Terror Codex would allow them. - There's a rules set above in the same group as the Army List link that has the 13th Co. Codex project in there. May help you. - If you want to effectively have Grey Slayers, WG with Logan would make sense, however not sure how to do this, unless someone is a Counts-As with captured TDA or maybe an extra bulky set of Runic Armor. Just some thoughts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238455-sigh-it-was-bound-to-happen/page/2/#findComment-2877627 Share on other sites

I ventured over to the Inquisition sub-forum for a couple days and even the most vague of slighted comments gets the poster pounced on and mauled. As to the "SMALL" SW force... doesn't look all that small anymore. Also, and I believe it was said earlier, you definitely wanna get your hands on a bunch of Chaos marine sprues to mix into your forces if you're wanting to go the 13th Co. route.. the extra details on those bits add soooo much flavor to them, not to mention easily separates them from the standard SW look (all color schemes aside). saphius
OP: Starer comes with: Troops, Scouts, and Drop pod if I remember. You can build a great army around that. With the starter box, the termies, and Long Fangs your on course for a great Logan Wing army. Make Terminators with Cyclone missile Launchers, A few more Long fangs - some with Multi Meltas. Make some lone wolves as well out of those termies. Possibly make an Arjac model. You have scouts for backup. Add Logan - or a Logan conversion to the mix. And there you have a GREAT army for not to expensive. Just put Logan, Arjac, and Multi Melta Long Fangs in a pod. Deploy some fangs in cover, and march some Power Armor Wolf Guard with Cyclone missile pack leaders and a few Lone Wolves and scouts for support. Want to scale it up to as large as you like - just have some fun with thunder wolf conversions. With your planned purchases, this is the cheapest way to build on that and get a kick butt army. BrotherSargeantDaro
hmm... the reason I like the 13th is because its UNIQUE... ALOT more than another "Space wolfy" army... theres alot of those... and to be 100% honest, I paint and convert more than play... that might change soon, but can you believe ive never played a 40k game? Yet I have the rule book, know it mostly inside out and keep up with rules and mathhammer? I'm nuts. and I like tabards/dresses/loin cloths. You haters are just jealous. :D I think I will end up doing the 13th "themed/count as" army. You guys are just saying it ain't worth it, so I'll trust you. Now, I DO want to stay away from named character or named characters count as. yes yes whatever. so, before I crack the wallet open.... (blarg) I am going to purchase the following for now. Tell me to add, or take away. SW Codex SW Battle Force SM Battle Force Chaos Space marines Iron Warriors upgrade sprue Bikes (inlcuding kromech ironshark bikes) landspeeders what else? Grimtooth
Before I brew up a buying recipe for this 13th Co I have a couple of questions: 1. Why the Iron Warriors upgrade sprue? 2. What are Kromech Ironshark bikes? Decided to start without the above replies, but do reply to them. My first set of choices is to get your basics down: SW Battleforce 3x Tactical Space Marine Squad 1x SM Scouts 2x Iron Warriors upgrade sprue 2x Chaos Space Marine Attack Squad From this you can build: Grey Hunters x10 dual melta Grey Hunters x10 dual melta Grey Hunters x10 dual plasma Grey Hunters x10 dual flamers Long Fangs x6, 3ML/2LC You will have plenty of Chaos legs, torsos, arms, shoulderpads, heads, and backpacks to spread out among those 40 Grey Hunters to make them easily look 13th Co. You will also have enough bits leftover to create a generic wolf lord/wolf guard battle leader/rune priest/wolf priest for a HQ. Grimtooth
well then, there you go, hahahaha. I don't know if you were hooked on having some Sky Claws via the assault Marines in the SM box, or the Rhino. The only good thing you seemed to really want out of it were the additional Scouts and the needed tactical squad. As far as transports, if you want them, only buy Razrobacks. The price difference between buying them new or having to go out and buy the Razorback bits is a joke. If you need some Wolf Guard in PA, buy one SW Pack and one Chaos Space Marine attack squad. Plenty of mix and match to make up 10 of them easily. Forté
There is no specific fluff on the lost companies (or 13th companies as it is in the codex). It's pretty much a free reign for us to create. In the codex the lost are described as being those who were lost on campaign or recounted their oaths of fealty. As for the chaos armour parts. With limited access to forges (ie none), its pretty much the only way the 13th can repair equipment and keep fighting. Wulfebane
Well... most people would feel that (fluff-wise) the 13th would scrape/gouge/carve off any Chaos symbols... the arrows and spikey stuff they'd leave, but not something like the chaos star or eyes, etc. OR you could go with an off-shoot of Skyrar's Dark Wolves, in which the chaos symbology would work better. For what it's worth, if you did include Chaos bits (which do add a lot of character), me personally, I would remove any directly chaos symbols and leave just the skulls/horns/spikes, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238455-sigh-it-was-bound-to-happen/page/2/#findComment-2878570 Share on other sites
