Has anyone played Horus Hersey?

My wife and I play a lot of board games, and I've considered picking up Horus Hersey for us to play, and we do have people that come over and game with us. As much fun as Munchkin Quest is it gets a little repetitive depending on the dealing. Anyone play this thing, or should I go in blind?

AFAIK, Horus Heresy is a 1v1 game.

My friend purchased it when it released, but we have yet to play it.. it's just a lil' bit intimidating rules-wise.. we've heard the game is actually great, but I can't help you with first-hand experience.

Its a 1 on 1 game. The rules can be a bit intimidating, as it is designed unlike really any other board game I've ever played. So take a few read-throughs of the book, and keep the manual close at hand while playing the first few games. That said, I absolutely love it. Requires strategic thinking, planning several moves in advance, and has elements of randomness without actually using dice. It always feels really stressful while playing it, but I love it for the challenge. And I got a non-40k friend of mine into it as well, based just on the gameplay.

This has also been my experience with it. Do make sure to read the rules thoroughly a few times before playing a game- we thought we'd be able to give it a whirl and learn as we go, and we did, but it really bogged the game down. Now that we have the rules fairly well memorized, the game flows smoothly and it really plays well. Lots of fun!

I grabbed it when it first came out. Played only one game so far and will probably have to play a few more to get a hang of the rules. I enjoyed it, but game time can be a while. Irony is in the first game, Sanguinius got all the way up to Horus's battle barge and killed him :)

Shameless bit of self-promotion here:

I have played the game a few times since I wrote the review and it's very enjoyable. Ferrata keeps muttering about a re-match. The rules are initially dense, but are actually very good. You can download them from the FantasyFlight website if you want to have a look.

I thought it was good anyway.

Recently got the game. Its pretty enjoyable, have only played one of the scenarios so far, but would recommend it to 40K SM/CSM nuts. Beware though, it takes a long time to play a game!

Set up and rules checking takes more time, if you try to be clever and get the Emperor killed.. :)
