Because I could?

First off, huge thanks for all the feedback! I tend to play against the same 3 guys all the time (hence my other post about chronic Eldar pains!) so it's always great and refreshing to get positive words from a community that I hold in such high regard!

I made the exact same pose for one of my paladins a couple of months ago as the guy on the right! Almost the same bits as well, funny. Nice poses and good painting too!
... and here I was thinking I was being imaginative! Does anyone else find it genuinely hard to come up with very distinct and dynamic looking poses after about 6 or 7 models? I find it takes no small amount of creativity to make each model look unique ... maybe that's just me?

The one to the right, does he have a scared helm? I would really like a close up of him to see it better.
I'm going to guess you meant scarred? or sacred? Either way, no. Or at least... not that I know of? I tried to keep my units free from wear and battle damage. I just like thought of even the most battle-tested GK's going into battle with their armour in pristine condition. In my mind, they are more of a 'get in, kill things, get out' kind of force, not one that would go on extended campaigns that would surely result in some very beat up armour at the end. Once I get my act together I'll post more pics of the unit as a whole and also take some portraits of each guy.

I don't know if anyone is interested (or even cares) but I think it's worth noting that the silver base-coat is actually just some cheap 'tremclad' silver spray paint that I managed to find at Home Depot. Obviously I've gone over the silver with a wash of black and also "asurmen?" blue in select places but for a cheap can of spray paint, I'm really happy with the results! So for anyone who thinks getting a decent looking silver needs to be a long process, just grab some silver spray paint from the local hardware store, get a pot of GW badab black and have at 'er!

No. It's not just you. It's an artifact of a compromise made between buildability, asthetics, and poseability during the design process for a new kit.

To give a hobbyist enough flexability to be unique without the invocation of more advanced hobby techniques the kits would have to be comprised of a nearly unmanageable number of components.

With the current compromise, at least you have some chance to select whether you put the akimbo arms on the runnings legs or the wide stance legs model.

I built an army full of plastic Cadians a few years ago, and I recall in my quest to do the same carefully plotting out all the combinations to see how far I could get before component duplication, and then taking a look at what poses could be achieved with what parts to see if I could stretch this a little further.

Overcoming this limitation is part of why so many articles advocate kit bashing. Pic'n'micks with PAGK might be possible with the vast reaches of the Marine lines, doing the same with the termies is tougher. I'd be inclined to look at the chaos lines for alternate handheld weapons if they hadn't been so 'brilliant' as to give the individual weapons individual rules. The stombolters with close combat attachments might be worth a look for knights with single handable weapons.

Part of me really enjoys the challenge of stretching these kits to their max potential in terms of poses and individuality. Once I get a group shot up I think (or hope at least!...) that some of the imagination I've put into the models will start to become a little more apparent.

Anyone else have some glory shots of their Terminators/Paladins?!
