What will our GK Codex be known for?

Alright, let me preface this a little bit...

For instance, we have BA, who have rules like Red Thirst/Black Rage and have things like the Death Company and jump packs for everything and its mother (as well as Baal Predators, Stormravens, etc). BA also have things like Mephiston and other "gimmicky" things. However, overall, the BA codex is known as a fast, assault based list with lots of FnP and other nice bits.

My question is, what will the GK codex be 'known' for? Draigowing? Crowifier? Formosan Warbands? I really don't think it will be any of these. I know that we are known by fluff and by practice as Marines, but better. But what does that mean?

EDIT: Spelling

GK will be known for annoying everyone with the Fortitude / Psychic Pilot rule. Seriously. That's the what people will take away from games against meched up GK, or even GK with a bunch of Dreadnoughts. GK will also be known for Crazy I Win Grenades. Rad and Psychotroke Grenades are pretty crazy in most situations. Those may both be "gimmicks" but they are damn effective ones.

Hmm, what else. I suppose another major thing is the ability to spam a ridiculous amount of firepower, both psycannon and bolter, within 24 inches.

Force Weapons, and Psiflemen Dreads.

And Pally Deathstars.

*Seconded*

Though personally I'd still like to be known for sheer tenacity but with a new codex the instant "veteran" status I enjoyed before its coming actually has to be maintained.... Oh well. (Now if only work and life would move over and let me play.....)

I think this is the most likely and practical idea. I really think that Pally deathstars are a super gimmicky thing that a lot of new players will latch onto. I know that there are some exceptions to this statement (i.e. nurglez and Blackmoor) and I am not diminishing their skill. Because that's what it takes to be successful with that kind of list; skill. And practice. Lots of it.

Part of me really thinks one thing that will linger long after other armies get a shinier and killy-er codex is the grenades. Just the sheer lunacy of shattering opposing death-star units and the whole "Did that just happen?!" aspect of the grenades makes them a pretty stand-out feature of the GK 'dex. That... or our good buddy Draigozilla.....

Mostly good rules combined with mostly poor fluff. With all sincerity, I think this will be the legacy of this codex.

That's the thing about Ward, the guy should be banned from writing fluff but his rules do actualy work well. His Codici tend to be balanced and fun.

i think the basic building blocks of this codex are brilliant, strike marines and terminators are just what they should be, i even like the NDKs..

i think its the little things that make this codex overpowered, the rad/psychotrope grenades, sanctuary and shrouding powers, even servo skulls..

stackable strength bonuses are cool, as are I6 halberds, but together they are overpowered IMO.

oh and draigo is someones wet dream brought into reality.

and this is merely my opinion, before i get all sorts of abuse... again!!!

Will be known for Matt "look at me" Ward, in making a codex so over the top with ridiculous fluff, making an army so smitten with itself and finally for not realising they are now "The Good Khorne".

For having crazy rules, like some dude carrying a daemon weapon that is to unsafe to lock away, so instead risks carrying it....could throw it in the sun, nah stupid idea.

For having some dude so awesome he can carve his initials on a fallen Primarch and walk the realms of chaos without corruption.

For overpowering an army with power weapons, grenades and unbeatable rules that are making BA rules look good now.

Your right, nothing to remember here, move along...

I think it will be known for cheese and the people that cry that will be known for not understanding the game enough to know that it is a well balanced codex.

well balanced? tell that to our 20 points grey knights who laugh at normal marines. they should be around 23 to 25 points IMO instead of 20. :P. Its crazy to even think that we can now field 60 of them in power armour in a 1750 points list and create an extremely competitive list.

thanks

Strikes aren't as good as grey hunters.

Great they have power weapons but they have 1 attack 2 on the charge, they also only have a small percentage of Ap2 with their shooting. They are marines that aren't as good in combat.

If Strikes were as good as you think why do some many forego them in favour of Paladins or paying the Crowe tax or taking Coteaz?

Strike are ok, I don't think they're really overpriced or underpriced. They definitely have a lot of extra weaponry for 5 points over a normal marine but don't have access to low AP weaponry (plasma/melta) and don't gain any durability making them 25% less durable. All in all the costs and benefits seem to match pretty well.

Anyways I think paladins will be the most memorable part of the codex. Terminators on steroids.

I agree, Strikes certainly are the last place I'd look for something that could possibly make the codex OP.
