Thank you for the kind comments, now that the festivities are coming to a close (till New year haha) I am able to sit down again and paint. The rest of the Space Hulk Terminators arrived and are in the process of being cleaned and as a added bonus I got a Caestus Assault Ram for Christmas! Plenty of shiny toys to add to the minotaur collection. My Birthday is next mont too, so who knows what else I will haul in ;)

These look sa-weeeet, nice gold going on. Bases? Snow on grey is a good call, maybe with a few blood stains on here and there, not too many but blood always looks nice on snow.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Due to lots of inspiration from Nurlging6688's wii blog, I got cracking on finishing the last details on my Minotaur's tactical squad. It is now 100% complete bar bases, as the pigment dusts for it have not arrived yet. I am very happy with the result and have already started working through tactical squad 2 which has lots of cool poses inspired from the Space Marine game.

I know it took a long time to get done, but I think I got it right and I am sure most people will agree that getting the test group complete can make or break the whole idea of painting/collecting an army :(

Thanks for looking

@ nurgling6688 - have to be honest, the reason why this has taken so long is the waiting time for bits here and there, the Champion shoulders in particular have been difficult to find en masse. I just hope Forge World release their own MK8 Marines sooner rather than later so I can save time building/buying and do more painting hehe.

@ Olisredan - really like the cinematic effects, I have an Ironclad hurricane bolter filled with cine effects, I think it will look good so naturally I can't wait to get that painted up. But firsts thing is the meat and bones of the army so more tactical squads ;)

You can always post wips of those while you wait for parts ;)

First half of tactical squad #2, once again i am keeping to the mk 8 theme. Am adding some small details such as the bolter targeter and in future auspex etc A few charging tactical marines as a tribute to Space Marine the game and also to represent the more aggressive tendencies of the Minotaur's chapter.

Second half of the squad is under way with exception of the heavy weapon, as my lacannon has not arrived yet in the post. Despite this, everything is looking on schedule for priming by end of tomorrow.

Thanks for looking :D

Nice to see Mk8's getting attention - also love the poses, brother. :)

- Thanks, I really need to keep the tactical's interesting for my sake and poses seem to be the only way for me to do it haha :P

In a crazy turn of events...I am ahead of schedule! Tactical Squad 2 is all primed up and ready for painting from tomorrow! As a result I had a choice of doing no hobby today, instead...

I built my Contemptor.

Some of you may recognise the base and yes this does mean that the Ironclad is gone (for now) but I am sure everyone will agree that it's replacement is an upgrade? The arms are magnetised and so is the head allowing for me to fiddle around with weapons and poses (a little), when I do final photography. It is still in the bare bones phase and will be getting a lot of detail added as the days progress.

Just realized you are also a member of the Badab War Veterans (of course) and added you to my blog roll. Looking forward to seeing this army get finished. Too bad my Astral Claws will never get a chance to square off against your Minotaurs, I get the feeling you are on the other side of the ocean from me.

Very nice project. Was there any special technique you used to make the helmets fit into the MKVIII torsos other than carving them down?

Thanks for checking out my progress ;)

With fitting the helmets to the mk 8 torsos, I remove the rounded plug under the helmet and just press the helmet into place. There is enough give in the mk 8 collar to allow the helmets to fit, but with some of the poses such as looking left or right, you need to shave the back of the helmet to allow for a smoother fit.
