Second Tactical Squad coming along nicely now with all shading complete. If all goes according to plan the unit should have highlights and the start of detailing complete by the end of Sunday.

The second batch of Minotaurs looks awesome man, really inspiring gold you got goin.

Also in regards to the "storm shields" on the Terminators, do you think they would look too overpowering on a power-armored figure? About how big are they?

Thank you for the kind comments :)

In regards to the scibor shields, there are two sizes available. I used the standard size on power armour (the stern guard) which ado not cover too much of the figure, and the large ones for terminators.

hope this helps

Thanks for the kind comments

It seems that the shoulder pad bits might have gone missing which is a major hassle, despite this, the second tactical squad is going well and I am gearing up (bits wise) to complete the 5 terminators I have chosen (from the space hulk range) to act as my tactical terminators. I am looking to get some new photos up in the next few days to show the project, and perhaps a 'group' shot at the end of the month.

Thanks for looking

Very nice work, brother.

Your army is full of personnality, with some good details and great conversions and poses (I really like the way you've done the contemptor). The flash effects on the guns are alos a great addition to the look of the minis.

You are really doing these guys massive justice, well done mate, how big an army you going?

At the moment I am working off the Battle for Shaprias organisation chart, essentially a augmented battle company led by Ivanus Enkomi from IA 10. By end of project it should be a company of Minotaur Space Marines complete with vehicles and a Thunderhawk gunship. I am tweaking the list a lift,e so it will not be 100% authentic i.e. I have added a librarian and will be using Contemptor dreadnoughts instead of MKIV's. Of course the release of IA 12 (another Minotaurs book0 may change this plan completely :P

For now I am working on 1000pts chunks at a time in order to play games with, the figures in this thread so far (bar a few swap overs) will hopefully get table time over the course of 2012.

Thanks for looking and taking time to comment, it's appreciated

Man, these guys are beautiful. That bronze just sparkles. I actually loaded up the Customizer in Space marine and did up a Minotaurs scheme last night just because of this thread :D.

That tactical Marine with the bolter sling (second from the left, front row)...how'd you change out the handedness and retain the sling? It's a trick I've been puzzling over for a while now, and you seem to have solved it!

Sorry for the late reply, been caught up with work stuffs this month.

The sling was carefully cut just above the metal buckle connector, I then bent the sling a little to accommodate the new arm. I used a brand new scalpel blade just to be on the safe side.

Some small progress.

The missing shoulder pads filly turned up after weeks in the post. Those are now painted up and shaded with the rest of the model, all that remains is to begin th highlighting process for the bronze and work the small details. i am still on target for completion for the end of the month and ready to move on to the next piece based on my reader's votes (via my blog).

Looking forward to sharing the finished article and a group shot of the two squads in coming weeks.

Too many distractions this year preventing me from painting ;) garden fence got blown down and girlfriend managed to drop a cup of tea on her laptop, which means she is using mine for now.

Amour on this unit is now done, and I am hoping to work all the details this week in time for the arrival of my new camera. I ordered last month a new light tent with lamp set and I am looking to get some 'glamour' shots of the completed tactical squad and the current one.

I removed the axe from the squad leader in the end, and I think it is an improvement, for some reason it just looks better to me. I will be glad to get this done soon so I can continue work on the Contemptor dreadnought.

Thanks for looking

I have my first game first week of March, with that in-mind,I have had to pick up the pace in the building department. My original goal was to have the Contemptor Dreadnought painted for end of Feb but that goal has now turned into a 1500pts army :)

The last two evenings have been very productive however as the photo shows. This evening i intend to move onto the Rhinos and drop pod, with plans to bulk spray everything next week (maybe add base colour?). It seems like a large goal especially for someone like me, but if I can pull it off I will be set up for more games in 2012, which is a pretty nice goal in all honesty B)

Thanks for looking, I will try to post more wip as I steam through this project.

20 days left and counting...

Oooooh is that a FW Achilles LR I spy in the background?

Not sure about it's rules but it does look very cool, how have you found the parts fit on it? I've built a FW MKIIB LR and found parts fit was.... a bit frustrating for want of a better description  and not up to the standards of the other FW kits I've built.

Good eyes!

This kit was actually really easy to work with, practically no gaps and only minimal shaving of parts to fit (I would rather have excess to trim than not enough to fill hehe). It is actually on stand by due to the new game deadline, I am intending to add some extra armour and a siege shield to it also...

Lots of tank goodness for today.

The Predators are now ready for painting, but I have run out of primer! The 'lead' tank will have Chronus added to the top hatch as soon as he arrives, all Predators have sponsons and tracks built and kept separate for ease of painting.

I have also progressed with the Rhino transports with hinged doors (using the B&C tutorials). This will be the standard now for all my transport vehicles as I am really happy with the build.

I will be working on the last two Rhinos with hinged doors tomorrow as I am off out this evening. If I complete them tomorrow, it will mean all armour is done bar the drop pod, which means I can get down to painting (assuming the primers arrive).

Thanks for looking.

Looking forward to these, they are going to look awesome! I take it you are going to paint the Rhino interiors?

Thanks for the kind comments :cuss

Yes I will be painting the interiors once all the other transports are built and hinged. Just trying to figure out what colours I want, right now I am leaning towards the standard bleached bone/offwhite look.

Now I hinged me up some rhinos back in the day and I never managed to have the top hatch close properly, have you found a way around that? Be very interesting to see his if you have!

Thanks in advance!

FTE

Erhm in all honesty I have not had too much problem with the top hatch. I just made sure to trim enough of the hatch pin to fit properly into the hull...other than that perhaps I was lucky :S

Here are some pictures of my first ever airbrushed model, I went for a warm brown to try and post shade the deep recesses and give a bit more depth to the tank. Still a few details to add on but as you guys already know, I paint as fast as a one legged sloth :P

Any c&c is appreciated, this was my first time using a airbrush, I bought the set last week and lost days just trying to find the compressor regulator! So if any one can help me improve my skill set it would be greatly appreciated

With thanks,

Chris
