freakytah
I'm not usually a short story reader, so I was thinking about getting this as an audiobook to listen to in the car. I was just wondering if I shouldn't listen to any particular stories before I catch up to that book in the series; currently I'm up to Nemesis (which apparently many people hate!). Are all these pretty much stand alone? Or will any contain potential spoilers for the books I'm yet to read. Thanks! Lord Lorne Walkier
It is a mix. There are some stories that loose little with out the full story so far (Iron Within). Others seem to take for granted that you have read some books (Little Horus). If you have a solid 40k background you will still enjoy it and understand what is going on, though you might miss some cool bitz. Texpef
Cant recall any story that would spoil the series for you but be prepared to want to drive the car off a cliff, boy is it depressing for the imperials, As for Nemesis one of my fav books dont know why it isnt liked?... freakytah
Haha thanks for the info guys, I'll try my best to avoid driving off a cliff! As for nemesis, I was reading through the thread on here and it seemed disliked by lots of people, but I'll still be reading it to make my own conclusions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238882-age-of-darkness-book/#findComment-2882245 Share on other sites
Roesor
I read all but Little Horus (as have not read the Horus rising trilogy yet) I found all to be very enjoyable. Master Ciaphas
Hail Yep - most are quite good. Especially Aaron W. Dembski-Bowden's "Savage Weapons". The Iron Warriors story I also really enjoyed, and - perhaps oddly enough - I also enjoyed "The Last Remembrancer" and "Liar's Due", even though they are very light on bolter action. The story I enjoyed the least, was without a doubt, Gav Thorpe's "The Faces of Treachery". Billuriye
The last remembrancer is very good. It's basically all the grimdarkness compressed into one story.
