SW Captain with Claws conversian

Well I just finished carrying in the last of the boxes. There is a lot of stuff here! I have a bunch of orcs and scenery to practice painting and a lot of troops to paint once I get a feel for it. I'm excited, I've been trying to get through all these words in both the rule book and the codex, but I'm trudging on. The person I got it from recommended a place to go where it is more adults than kids, and the staff is "more my type", maybe beer drinking SW players? Not too sure what he actually meant by "My type."

Craigslist baby!

Now I will gladly hang my head, go in the corner, and read and watch tutorials.

well he turned the UM from the Black Reach set into some wolves, but whatever, I got a LOT of stuff now to start painting. Funny too cause I'm reading Battle For the Abyss and The Wolves and UM aren't the best of friends in it, and then I get 15 "Wolves" with UM everything and wolf bits. They will be my practice pieces I guess, kind of works out I will have a lot of guys to try new techniques on.

Congrats on the deal! I'll have to check Craigslist when I get back home. If you're getting into the hobby, and it definitely sounds like you are doing so with gusto, could try filing/cutting the UM icons off the models. You'll end up pretty good with an exacto or hobby knife after a few models. Can always practice greenstuffing pelts over shoulders as well.

Best of luck with the new army!

just won a NIB SW battleforce for $70. Will have a nice army now, and I just got a killer job, it pays quite well and is part time. I'm buying all my crafty stuff soon and will start painting after that.

will post pics when I start. Cool thing is I get to build a spray booth at my work, and I have keys to the place.

OK, I now have all of that plus a new battle force that I will probably make a lot of wolf guard with and snipers, another box of SM snipers w/ sniper rifles, what should I get for mech? A Russ is a must for me, even if I never use it. A few Redeemers?
so I got a new Space Hulk and have a crazy idea, I want to convert the SMs into Wolves. They would be a squad who came to the realization that werewolves > vampires.

I can't stand red, so no way in hell am I making BA

Well goo luck cutting off all the BA icons.....Post pictures please when your done

Well, perhaps I am a little past beginner level with modelling, though certainly no GS pro. But I think people 'should' be able to get the BA icons off the SH Termies.

But you need the right tools. A pair of sharp knives. A stiff one, that cuts through legs etc. with ease. And a lighter one, that is sweet for scraping mould lines but also those blood droplets, etc.

See post #40 of 'my miniatures' in my sig.

Given all the Wolf parts in the Marine and Termie boxes you SW players get, I think it is doable ;)

For the shoulder pads, I used the bench grinder at home which not everyone will have access to :tu: but before that I was using a knife *big sigh* and then progressed onto a dremel *sigh*. Using the bench grinder was a breeze. But I have used one quite a lot in my trade, so don't get your fingers pulled in between the wheel and the rest!

just got the new Nijal Stormcaller and ordered 2 crusader/redeemers. I also got an Iwata HP-CS and a Paasche D3000R, now I need paint and all is a go. I'm watching lots of videos and have decided on doing a dark grey but need to figure out the actual color I want.
