Thanks EPK - I had not seen this yet and looking at it I am going along a similar line but slightly different magnet positioning and less of them.

I have now got the prelim done and should have some photos up on Fri.

Eeps, Burias-Drak'shal and Hellios: Thanks guys

furioso-prime: WWED :D .....The drybrushing on the robes gives a more natural look IMO. I think fabric reacts differently to the light as it is not a smooth relective surface due to the texture and can be a little more random than the side of a vehicle. Plus it is a hell of a lot quicker ;)

Transformer coming soon - stay tuned

Dude, sorry for not commenting sooner, my lurking probably doesn't count ;)

I love the Force pics. Really really cool. Esp. the RW Stormchicken.

There was me thinking you where hunting Fallen only to be told you where just lurking in the shadows - bad Stobz ;)

Chicken/budgie/thingie has only been played once so far at the local "Kettenfest" (track festival - how many tanks/AV can you get on one table) at my local GW. But it def. stood out ;)

Picture here - unfortunately I am at the wrong end of the table.

The meet was organised by word of mouth mainly and the deal was you could bring anything with an AV.

I turned up with my 5 DA tracks + Stormbudgie + 4 Landspeeders + 6 Dreads+ LRC + 7 hammerheads + 3 Piranhas.

My youngest had his BA, 3 Preds + Rhino + 3 Dreads and his IG, 4 Lemanruss + 5 Chimera variants + 6 Sentinals + a Valkrye (mine really) + 3 Basilisks and a Baneblade.

(You can see the non-PA armies via the link in my Sig.)

Between us we filled the bottom left hand side of the table.

The man of the match was the guy who brought the Warhound and Reaver titans but he was at the other end so I survived :)

Yes I am the young looking guy at the far left ;)

;)

Go 4th! Congratulations for completing this ambitious project Elmo! Well done! Now the 4 dreads do not look out of place at all! ;) Wait a minute... 5 dreads. hahahaha!!! Impressive stuff - especially when one thinks of the high quality and the little time it took you!

Congratulations again and look forward for your other projects ;)

Wow that's a great looking force!

Now we have two entire companies now - Yours 4th and Stobz's 3rd :)

Thanks Bevulf - however it does raise the question: Who is going to do the other Companies?

I would not fancy doing the 1st or 2nd ;)

Edit: Although I am about 60% into the 1st as is :)

  • 3 weeks later...

hey Elmo, I know I asked this in another thread of yours, but I can't seem to find it. what is your recipe for your deathwing, If I remember, it's spray black

spray AP bone white

some brown in recesses

and edge hilite in white.

I forgot what you use for shading.......

No problem furioso-prime....

Matt black primer spray

Army builder Bone Spray

Recesses in Devlin mud (I stocked up before the nice people at GW discontinued it)

Touch up in Bleached bone

Edge in Skull white

You can use the GW comparison chart for the new names.

The recipe was part of the ETL thread on the Landraider Crusader but it is the same method as I use for the Termies.

Now I have 3 boxes of the new starter box incoming (the chaos are for another member of my gaming group so we have split the costs and some of the models will be going back up for individual sale) along with about 25 tacticals (some old style) and 5 assault marines left over - the question is which Company to do next...

The logical step would be to do the 3rd or the 5th but as Stobz has already done an excellent full 3rd Company I am tempted to do the 5th or maybe even the 6th.

I am willing to go along with the majority vote here as I have already done the hardest company badge ;)

The shortage at the moment is in Transports but I will be keeping my eye on Ebay for these and in the Armoury.

Along with this I will have 9 squads of Terminators so almost half of the 1st Company

and

6 x 6 bike Squads

2 attack bikes

3 Landspeeders

but the question is what makes up the 2nd Company? Assuming 100 Battle Brothers plus HQ how would they be split up?

My initial thought was for 8 Attack Squadrons and 2 Support Squadrons but I would be interested to here any other ideas.

I was trying for a full Company - a Chapter is a little too much ;)

This plastic crack habit is getting a little out of hand - I am starting to think that given a couple of years it could turn into a Chapter now and wouldn't that be a hell of a lot of work! :D ^_^

Does anyone know of a good clinic I can check myself into?

Edit: changed the thread title to more match the contents as this is no longer just the 4th Company :(

The box set marines are painted up as 5th company; no idea if the quadrant badge is sculpted on, or simply painted. If it's sculpted, and you have a lot of them, 5th would be a sensible choice.

I've recently started painting up the squad/company/chapter markings for my company (4/10 finished, 3/10 need freehanding, 1/10 are only basecoated and the final 2/10 are coming from Dark Vengeance). Serendipity meant that I actually decided on 5th company before DV came out, but it seems fate was smiling...

Brilliant work Elmo.. quality and quantity on such a lareg scale is truly a great achievement.... I am going to need to create more awards for the Fortress website to honour people like you!! B)

Strcture of the Ravenwing: As for the composition of the Ravenwing, it's anyone's guess. I had a particular structure in place 10 years ago when i started accumulating the models for a full RW company...then the 4th edition of the codex came out and out went the A/Bike squads.....

At the moment I have structured it as 6 attack squadrons and 3 support squadrons with one support squadron supporting two attack squadrons... sort of fits in. The final squadron is an attack squadron which becomes the Command squadron with Standard bearer and Apothecary....

That makes 100 battle brothers in the structure excluding indepenndant characters.....

Who knows what the next Codex will bring?

What Company next: While I would love to see you knock off all the 10 companies you might find it a tad boring...one option would be to do each of the remaining company in the Livery of a successor chapter?

SG

That is a LOT of models...seeing someone else working so hard is an inspiration as I work towards a similar project involving the 5th company...so far, I'm sitting on 5 tac squads, one assault demisquad (number six is on the table), a dev squad and a half, a variety of extra sergeants, Zeke, a master, a chaplain, a bike chaplain, TDA chappy and libby, Bels, ~30 assorted termies, ~10 assorted bikes, 4 assorted land raiders, including a TU, a dozen or so scouts, three assorted vennies, and a few assorted vehicles. Oh, and a watcher ;)

The sixth squad will come from the DV box, and I'll just keep plugging away at assault marines until the new codex comes out, when I'll decide about wargear and such for the sergeants and any bonus jumpers (two flamers per squad, please!)...and I'll do the heavy weapons for the incomplete tenth squad post-codex, too... I can't wait to use the "I gots me a set-piece company o' space marines" datasheet in APOC...along with the fleet of land raiders, termies, and a yet-to-be-bought (retired-from-the-Army present to myself circa 2021) T-hawk...

Thanks Brothers :D

I am working on the first of my Vindicators at the moment but I did get sidetracked last night painting the 2 plasma turrets (pictures on Fri).

Once the 3 Vindies are done to basic level I will be trying to combine them together as a unit using some good old DA Iconography and bling. This may take a few weeks so be patient. ;)
