Forgeworld Bran Redaw

I don't like the axe. Looks too big and too blunt:( And the way he is holding it... like a tennis rocket. Ogh well, I think I'll have to buy this model anyway to be sure that other things in it are ok:)

Same thoughts on the axe. There's something about the whole piece holding back the wow factor for me but I can't work out what exactly.

Maybe You mean that he is looking like a rank-and-file Wolf guard with a power axe not a mighty Wolf Lord?

could be the twist of the body and the awkward looking axe swing too.

Clipped this from a blog over at 40konline:

-Although they're in the next IA, Space Wolf stuff isn't a high priority currently. There's only likely to be one special character (Bran Redmaw, who has stats in the book), whose released sometime after the book. Thunderwolves are quite low on the 'to do' list, though Warwick hinted this might be because of plastic one coming soon (note that this is purely conjecture ATM). Also, Wulfen are back! There's a datasheet for them in the Appendix, so there's the teeniest tiniest sliver of a possibility of a conversion kit for them (again, don't hold your breath).
I really don't understand why Space Wolves have only had one release since 2009 when Dark Eldar have had three since 2010?

DE was a bigger release with everything being replaced.

Understandable but the thunderwolves thing is annoying, warhammer world has come down hard on the use of third party models over the last 6 months decimating the numbers at my gaming club and we still have too many models for popular armies that GW don't make.

Well, the only thing from our codex which is missing ab initio is Thunderwolves. I am not counting the actual minis for all current Wolf Lords, because they are not in the troops selection part of the book, and we most probably will not have them released ever. As far as DE are concerned (and nids as well), IIRC at the date of release of their codex they had ~ 1/3 of their stuff only. There were no minis for both skimmers, venom, wracks, haemies and Archon court. Heck, they are still missing most of special HQ characters, the Voidraven and Trueborns. And save the Voidraven, the rest are minis essential for competitive builds.

Is it just me, or does his 'axe' have a flat edge? As in, it isnt sharp? I suppose in the era of plasma this and power that it dosnt NEED a sharp edge, but it kinda looks like an axe style Thunder Hammer to me. The figure is great, though, and id likely use it, just with a different weapon!

I guess because it's bad lightning effect or poor photograph skills :) I can actually see an edge, but it is very blurred. Still, we have to be thankful for what we got :)

Unfortunately Games Workshop and Forge World have demonstrated a complete disregard for completing any of their ranges. Instead they seem to keep sticking as many Titan weapons on Imperial Guard vehicle chassis as possible while expanding the number of units in the game...even if there are no models for them.

Although from a business point of view, this is rather clever, because their customer base will likely find an effective way to convert these units from their existing range, thus making them more money without them having to invest in new kits.

Worse still, is GW's new marketing strategy to keep everything quiet, so that none of their customers can plan their armies for the future. For example; I feel sorry for all the Dark Eldar players who spent hours converting Vyper jetbikes into Venoms only for GW to suddenly release a Venom kit a couple of months later. This is why I'm not in any hurry to make some Thunderwolf Cavalry. Because I know that as soon as I finish painting the last few details, GW will release a plastic kit!

This.

The main reason I've not tried any of the 3rd party TWC sculpts (other than them being horribly done) is that when GW finally does release a model, all our 3rd party sculpts will be illegal in tournaments and will still look out of sync with the GW aesthetic.
