Lightning Claw Vanguard Veteran Squad

Hey all,

I write a alot, so I made my own chapter up...based on salamanders, but theyre more into the dragon-y aspect that the anvils and stuff. Sooooo, for the Masters retinue, I wanted 5 hard-as-nails twin Lighning Claw dudes...which I just happened to make jump troops. So, anyway....I got a squad of the van vets and bought a load of LC from bitzbox....

Below is my first model, probably the squad segeant...the claws are termie claws, I cut the vans weapons off just after the elbow joint, then cut the LCs off just after the elbow as well. I then carved out a bit of the palm so the little sticky-out remains of the forearm slot inside the LC palm to add strength to the join. I will greenstuff the hole up once its finished gluing.

I'll put more up as I go along!

Oh my god- a sad twisted image of a jump pack. And yet it's so crooked it actually made me laugh- like I was standing over it, watching it cry itself to sleep :D Did You try dipping it in warm/hot water so that it returns to shape? GW has ASSURED us all that a trick like this would well... do the trick and make the finecast plastic-resin return to the right condition.
Looks good glad to see some fine cast without defects.

Mostly defect free.....

it's almost like they are selling you terrain in your sets eh?

that looks like something I would expect from my first casting experiment

Man that thing is messed up. Luckily GW is really good about sending you new models if your finecast is messed up. I had a Liche Priest with a bent staff that I couldn't get to be straight no matter what so I called them and got a whole other model for free. All you need is the batch number on the packaging.

Also looking forward to seeing this squad done, I always liked the image of a whole unit with lightning claws. The last one looks like he should be giving the middle finger.

Put the first guy together (minus the jumppack) and done a quick slap on paint job just to get an idea of how he's looking....

Sorry for the slowness but yesterday I was stupidly using my finger to brace one of the termie arms while trying to cut off the claws...it slipped it dug right into my finger, f-in blood everywhere and its slowing me down cuz I now cant grip stuff with my left index finger!!

Hey, sorry to double-post....

I, with the help of blu-tac, have temporarily put together 4 of the vans now. Also I've painted some more on the one I started before...sorry about the poor picture

You need to do one in the classic Wolverine-pose, with both arms tucked close to the body and the fists palm-upwards, but facing directly forward.

They do look nice so far.

well the relic blade man, would be a good one, seeing as I'll need to pretty much take his arms right back to near enough nothing! I'll see what I can come up with!
