I suppose I should introduce myself, eh?

Where to start? Hm? Ah, yes. The names, Seimei. I'm a wanna-be-artist that has stumbled across the world of 40k and fallen in love with every aspect of it. I'm still learning about this new universe and all it's lore, so if you have wisdom to share, I would greatly appreciate it. Don't worry, I only bite when asked. :(

I'm in the process of building my first ever army. I decided to go with Chaos Space Marines, what can I say? Power armor is incredibly sexy. I've never painted a mini before so it's a new experience. I've done traditional and digital art, but nothing like this. I'm also working on a Psyker character for a Dark Heresy table top role play game. I'm a hard core fan of D&D and the White Wolf games, so the Dark Heresy system is a bit new, but I am stoked to get started. It looks like Biomancy is going to be my best friend. ;)

So with that out of the way, how is everyone on this fine day?

I decided to go with Chaos Space Marines
The best choice! :)

Welcome aboard Seimei, I hope that you will enjoy the time spent in these halls and if you need help with anything Chaos, please drop by.

Tis a pleasure to meet you, Brother Nihm. Thanks for the welcome. ^^

When you play Chaos Marines, do you ever use Summoned Daemons?

As Nihm said, summoned Daemons are probably best used in fun games. However, Summoned Daemons are really fun to model, because they can represent cultists, actual daemons from any power, Dark Mechanicus creations... Really, the possibilities are endless.

However, if you're looking for a more competitive codex, you might want to use Blood Angels or even Grey Knights, depending on your play-style. If you're planning on modelling Chaos and using something we like to call 'counts-as*' just make sure you clear up which codex you are using with your opponent before-hand :D

*As the name implies, 'counts-as' is where a model will stand in for a unit already prescribed in the Codex. For example, a modelled squad of Chaos Raptors, with spiky bitz and everything, using the Blood Angels Codex might use all the rules of an Assault squad as described in the Blood Angels Codex unit entry. In this case, the Raptors would count-as an Assault Squad.

Hope that's clear ;)

Uum...Ahaha. Yes? And no. I am still /very/ new to playing the armies. I'm more use to the roleplay games than the army table top. I'm just trying to stick with good old fanshion Chaos Marines for now, then when I become more familar with the system I'll branch out and try more daring tactics. Until then though, what you tried to explain is ...a bit over my head. Heh, I'm sorry! ^^; I still have so much to learn...... But thank you kindly for the tips.

Even if you are going with the Dark Brothers I will still welcome you. This place is a neutral place of gathering for all of the Imperium even the "crazy" ones. And remember that everyone has something to learn even the old farts here.

That's always nice to hear. I don't want to step on any toes. Heh. I really wanted to play Space Wolves, but I already owned the Chaos Marine book, so honestly? That's one of the reasons why I picked them. It's more for pracitce really. Practice painting the minis and practice with battles. Once I get a better feel for it, I definately want to give one of the Space Marine armies a go. They are my favorite, hands down. :tu:

Well it looks like we can convert people to the Loyalist side without trying. See other Chaos players! You are just practice. ;)
