paolo1023
I know i just posted this in the Wip section but i might get some more wold orientated CC and ideas here :( I just started collecting these guys and i am very impressed by the grey hunters pack box so far! ANYWAY here is a test model, space wolf #1 http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000936.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000937.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000940.jpg Also Wip shots of Space Wolf #2 and #3: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000930.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000932.jpg And finally, a Wip of a lone wolf conversion I'm working on... Not sure what else to do with this guy to make him more "wolfy." Any suggestions? http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000935.jpg Thanks for Watching! paolo1023
SPACE WOLF #2!! http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000948.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000949.jpg And a group shot...or a...pair...shot... http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000953.jpg I also built the space wolves that will make up half of one of my planned squads: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000958.jpg I would paint the eyes, but i haven't managed to paint the eyes decently on a single model and don't want to ruin it... Also, in a few minutes time i'll post my army list here, will you guys be able to give me some feedback on it? Frontline989
Looks great but don't make the mistake I did and go overboard with the helmetless heads. I'd use them sparingly but that's just personal preference. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239100-new-wolf-pup/#findComment-2886850 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
What model is the one with the powerfist and the bolter? That specific collared armor is what I am thinking will be exclusive to my wolf guard. Wulfebane
What model is the one with the powerfist and the bolter? That specific collared armor is what I am thinking will be exclusive to my wolf guard. It's one of the SM Sternguard models. The neckpiece is all about the Mk VIII Errant power armor design, I believe. http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1870245_99110101385_SMSternguard_873x627.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239100-new-wolf-pup/#findComment-2887272 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
They have that torso piece in the devastator box set as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239100-new-wolf-pup/#findComment-2887290 Share on other sites
paolo1023
Well...Long time no post but i have made qutie a bit of progress! I have also decided to change my bases. The old ones were 1)to low and 2) not enough of a contrast, and so this came about: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000961.jpg As you could probably see, that is the finished 'Space Wolf 3' from my first post... I have also finished the first squad of 5 (A squad that will eventually be a squad of 10 with a power weapon, meltagun and plasma gun): http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000962.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000964.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000966.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000967.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000968.jpg All of but two of these guys need transfers but other than that, they're done! And finally a WIP shot of the wolf priest i am currently working on: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000969.jpg And his base: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000973.jpg Those last two photos might be a bit blurry and I'm not sure what is going on with my light but it seems to keep changing colour between photos  ANYWAY! Hope you enjoy! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239100-new-wolf-pup/#findComment-2898741 Share on other sites
Gariuys
Really nice paint job. But IMHO don't go overboard with the helmets, it's all personal preference but fluff wise if a wolf can get away with not using a helmet he will. Although painting enough eyes might change my opinion on that. ;-) couple points of CC though, drill out your barrels and paint those eyes, it really makes a big difference IMHO. And even using extreme highlighting, there really is no good reason for a edge highlight at the bottom of the leg guard if theres a bronze trim there. Beef
I love the clean crispness of your models. As for the comments on the eyes its totally upto you. The washes fill the eye recesses up nicely enough for it not to matter to much. As for helmet less heads its all good. Personnaly I would not bother with helmets, We are SW and we dont like our sences dulled by helmets. We like to feal the wind in our hair/beards and the splash of our enemies blood on our face. Now what I want to know is how did you do your snow base? Step by step please. I have an army that needs basing before the weekend. paolo1023
@Gariuys: Firstly, Thank you! I realise about the helmets and i haven't used that many, it just so happens that out of the first 5 normal guys that i paint, 3 of them have helmets. The next 5 normal guys all have bare helmets so it's all good! ;) And about the barrels, I don't currently have a drill that i can really use to do that, so that will be one of my christmas presents so just watch that space :P @Beef: Again, Thank you! And the tutorial you asked for (Although i don't know your chances of getting it done before the weekend now...): 1.) Make your model but leave him of the base: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000974.jpg 2.) Get some 3 or 4 mm cork board and superglue it to the base. either do small bits to represent small rock and later you'll stick the model just onto the base itself or use a big bit of cork board and you'll later stick the model onto the rock itself (see the photo of this one below): http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000975.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000976.jpg 3.) Paint/ Spray the whole thing black! http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000977.jpg 4.) Then do a drybrush of Codex and then drybrush of Fortress. Make it so the Fortress is mainly on the top of the rock so it is darker at the bottom of the 'rock': http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000978.jpg 5.) Now, to do the snow simply paint a layer of glue with an old brush on the flat parts of the 'rock' and the base itself and then bury the base in bicarbonate of soda. Leave for a couple of second and then knock of the excess. Leave this to dry for a while. When dry take a slightly damp brush and dust of the soda from the parts that aren't meant to have it on. (sides of the rock, rim of the base etc) don't dust off the parts on the top of the rocks and stuff otherwise you'll end up knocking it all of and end being able to see the rock underneath which doesn't look good... http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000980.jpg 6.) Add tufts of long grass ( I use model railway stuff but there may well be other/better stuff out there). Unfortunately i don't have pictures of the base i have been using in the past photos with the grass (Mainly because i haven't put it on yet...) so i am going to do a bit of a plug for myself and show you this instead: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000981.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae226/paolo_049/Space%20Wolves/P1000982.jpg 7.) Sit back and relax and if your like me, start trying to get the little bits of cork board i have managed to super glue to my finger tips... Hope that helps! (First tutorial i have ever done so i hope it wasn't too bad...)
