New Wolf

Hey everyone

 

Just ordered my Spacewolf codex and battleforce. Currently have one SW battleforce and a standard marine battleforce plus enough rhinos to transport the buggers.

 

The main reason for this army is I am a HUGE Thousand son player and want to have my main enemy as an army also.

 

Cant wait to see the dex as i have not read or played against it. :huh:

Welcome, oddly enough. The fluff indicates that Space Wolves and Thousand Sons are enemies due to the Wolves being the Emperor's finest at wiping out another Space Marine chapter.

 

As far as collecting armies, no one can stop you; should they attempt to, they take this game way too seriously.

 

How many SW's are you planning on making? How many Rhinos and Razorbacks do you have? If you balance things out right, you can make a good number of HQ's, GH's, WG, and even a few BC's, depending upon your taste for them (others may naysay this point on BC's). BC's are great on the charge as a troop choice; but that's it. GH's are better in every other way.

With the two boxes combined and some bits i am hoping for

 

10 bloodclaw/skyclaw

10 grey hunters/10 bloodclaw Rhino

10 grey hunters/10 bloodclaw rhino

5 Long fangs/razor

5 Scouts

Drop pod

 

Not sure on HQ yet as not sure what they are like.

 

I really like the colour of the wolves and am looking forward to painting :)

all nonsense aside, welcome to the fang, the most friendly place in the b&c(atleast for oathkeepers, unlike any of magnus-curse his name-'s sons!) :P

 

since you're a 1000th sons player maybe painting the wolves into their heresy colour might be interesting, as is fielding the thirteent company(no vehicles though!)

Sounds like a good idea. Especially with chaos having such a full flavored dex these days (just incase you have a low grasp of sarcasm. The current dex is a huge pile of crap with no charactor at all).

 

Go for the Grey Hunters over blood claws. Bit more all rounders in small forces.

 

 

EDIT: Just noticed your from Belfast so ignore the comment about sarcasm as I'm sure you got it fine :P

 

And grab an ale but leave your sorcerous ways behind you.

As Karak and forte said, Grey Hunters > Blood Claws in almost all circumstances, though it doesn't hurt to have atleast 1 pack of BCs. Just magnetize their backpacks and you can switched them from footslogging to Swiftclaws with jump packs at your leisure when/if you end up collecting that far.

 

Being a 1k Sons, you'll looooove our Rune Priests, and since they're debateably the best psykers in the game (yes, better than yours!) you'll likely want to try out one or three. Other than that, HQ depends on your playstyle; Melee vs gunline vs mech vs deepstriking armies. Let us know how you plan to take the field and we might be able to construct our advise better.

 

 

I'm baffled that you haven't played against nor read the SW codex, being a 1k Sons player. I know if I ever met one of your ilk, I'd lunge at the chance to take 'em down.

The magnetized Backpacks will save you a great deal of headache later if you can manage it, for your 10BC/SC point (first one)

The Rhino with 10 GH/BC is a great way to go, just realize you're going to have to make a decision once painting begins, so GH's would be best as you would (hopefully) have a BC/SC pack already.

The second Rhino should likely be GH's as well.

The five LF's and Razorback is a great deal, overall. Either make a fifth HW LF or add a WGPL and you will have capacity, as well as options if you can manage both.

The scouts are just that, read up on their entry in the SW Codex, just remember they are BS 4, not 3. The Scouts are not our recruits, and don't let others try to tell you different. ;) :)

Pod: great to toss a Dread or some special unit into; a WG unit later on may be great for that. Or, failing that, if you're willing, a great trade item for a Rhino if that would work out.

 

Overall, a nice setup and place to start.

 

Just need an HQ and you can start playing a few small games, and get a feel for our force. The thing is, once one starts Wolves, there's really no such thing as a Small army, after a while. Just be prepared to want a full Great Company, in time. It happens to most, that I notice. I myself have over 5,000 points total, at least; this isn't even fielding everything.
