Back in my day... (aka - What are all the new lists?)

Well, looks like I have been gone long enough for the system not to have any record of my posts or replies (I checked, wanted to see how long it had been). A year? Hell, I dont know.

Anyway... I pulled my Wolves out of Storage... again... and considered selling them... again... and when I tallied up the retail cost of the whole lot, it was over $2100. Somehow, I dont think I am going to be able to sell it, so decided to trim off the figures I dont need (mostly old Terminators and other OOP models) and figure out what all you pups are doing these days.

At least they FINALLY got a decent name for the Logan/Terminator list.. Loganwing. I can live with that. We still dont wear dresses though. Sorry.. robes. :woot:

Anyway, what are the other 'prime' lists this time through? Something about a Razorback spam list?

Someone catch me up? Any word on a new rulebook any time soon? Whats the current buzz?

There are many lists of space wolf, our codex is blessed with such options.

Standard space wolves tend to build around a core of Grey Hunters and Long Fangs and then structure their list around that stable core. As Long Fangs are one of our strongest shooting compoments and Grey Hunters are one of the most robust close quarters units, it makes for a solid army to build around. Long Fangs suppressing tanks and bombing infantry, while Hunters take objectives and names. From there, wolf guard is typically added to Grey Hunters to make their leadership more robust and other units included tend to be Wolf Scouts, Lone Wolves, possibly Dreadnorts, then either Landspeeders, Thunder Wolves or swift/sky claws make up the fast attack.

Logan's Heros can consist of purely termies, but it tends to be best to mix some power armour and other support in there too. So Long Fangs fit in nicely, along with pretty much anything you can think of, since Wolf Guard are a troops choice.

By the sounds of it, Logan Heros sounds right up your street.

6th Edition is rumored to be released next summer. You can read about it here. There is a Google doc that was created with the list of all of the details in one spot, which you should be able to find a link to over at Warseer, if you are interested enough in it. As with all rumors, they have to be taken with a grain of salt, but these are at least very comprehensive and thoroughly designed.

Welcome back,

Hey, your still alive and kicking! Not in Colorado anymore?

Thanks for the info. When I heard they were re-releasing the Necrons I considered getting back into the swing of things, then saw the summary of what they planned to change and decided against it. Now I am stuck on the wolves... to stay or to go.

Whats the word on this Razorback spam list that seems to be popular?

Yep, I'm still around. I was reassigned to Huntsville, Alabama this summer, and am getting settled into the new job. It's nice here, too, but we'll definitely miss Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, they don't have a place like the Gamer's Haven here, but a new shop is opening soon, The Foundry, that should be catering to local gamers.

Unfortunately, I'm no expert on the Razorspam lists, as I've just continued to stick with my old lists with a few variations. In fact, I don't own a single Razorback. I'm sure someone else with pop-in with some experience and recommendations though.

Razor spam is just essnecally getting as many razorbacks as possible to maximise shooting at any distance, mainly using lasplas. It doesn't reduce the special output either due to many grey hunters being supported by guard anyways. Main issue with it is Grey Hunters really need to work in sync to work since the smaller squads are not quite as formidable unless paired up, and that razors don't tend to hold that well under anti tank firepower. Not to mention all those razors cost a bomb.

Still, perfectly valid and competative list provided you field enough support for their firepower. Speeders, dreads, Scouts to strike out that those who sit back. E.c.t
