Tuckles
Hey guys, I'm yet another nub who wants to take up the Space Wolves. I've had the models sitting around for quite a while, but couldn't decide on an army. I've finally decided to make a Krakendoom themed list, but I'm having trouble visualizing the exact list because of the paltry description in the Codex. So far, for army composition (for a 2000 point game, which is the standard I play with), I went through 3 iterations.' My core is most definitely two squads of Grey Hunters lead by Wolf Guard, a squad of Sky Claws lead by my "general", a WGBL (not a Wolf Lord for reasons explained below). One iteration was a balanced list, with TDA Wolf Guard, Long Fangs and Swiftclaws, the WG would be in a drop pod while my HS and Troop choices would be in some form of Rhino chassis vehicle. This list has two Rune Priests (one on bike and one in TDA). A second iteration was a more "Vanguard to the landing" type list which retained most of the stuff above, but switched out the TDA WG with two squads of Wolf Scouts, one that would OBEL and another that would Infiltrate and snipe, the sniping one would be 10 strong at the cost of removing the TDA RP (all excess points went to my WGBL and Sky Claws). The third iteration was more of a "Boarding a ship" which featured heavy hitting units and loads of drop pods (because I figure, SHOOT THE DROP PODS AT THE ENEMY!), so instead of having everyone in Rhino/Razorback transports, I would have them all in drop pods, and instead of the swiftclaw pack, I'd take one more unit of Skyclaws, turning one RP into a Wolf Priest. I definitely want my WGBL to be with the Skyclaws, and I'm giving him Saga of the Warrior-born because I figure, with the mobility and proper placing during the assault (putting him in the front lines is a no-no, take advantage of the 2" from an enemy unit thing), I'd avoid most stray S9 and AP2 hits. Can you guys help me make up a list? Thanks a bunch. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239282-yet-another-noobcake/ Share on other sites
Karack Blackstone
Greetings, whelp. As far as making a list, please follow the link towards the top of the forum and go into the army list section. In there, by posting what you have already and/or can build, I think we can help to build you a list you're happy with. It's going to require feedback, to be sure. Per your ideas so far, which do you have the most models currently for? The closest list type you can currently field will net you more games, overall. Actually, Skyclaws and anything with them may draw the S9, AP2 shots simply because they're fast, mobile, and no enemy wants them to hit their units. There's a great deal that can be done to protect them, like using Rhinos as screeners. That, or take multiple Skyclaw packs, and let them go to it. Skyclaws are strongwilled and very likely to raise hel, but at the same time they'll typically survive unless they are the threat the enemy chooses to focus on. Sending them straight at the enemy is a great way to see what the enemy is willing to shoot at, and also not the greatest of ideas in an Annihilation game. Otherwise, consider that they can tear apart anything infantry typically if they get the charge off. hendrik
instead of that wolf guard battle leader consider a wolf priest to go with your skyclaws, sure he's got less attacks but most times you'll be rerolling the to hit dices for the entire pack! that's way better then those 22 extra attacks the wolfguard battle leader has! not to mention the wolf priest might even be cheaper! also, welcome to the fang whelp! have a sip of this wolfwhizz! Tuckles
@Karack Whoops, sorry. Didn't see that. I was just wondering though, what would constitute a "Krakendoom" list? (as I said, the codex to me was very vague). @Hendrik I was considering that, but I like the WGBL for fluff purposes. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239282-yet-another-noobcake/#findComment-2886930 Share on other sites
