skarn
Shoot it with big guns. It doesn't matter if you are the best daemon hunters in the galaxy or an ork. Shoot it with big guns, then hit it with big things. There's really very little tactics involved, except staying away from it's 36" charge.Find the biggest gun you can and shoot it. On the point of the 2+ nullify - it reads as though the psychic power must be directed at the daemon lord. Hammerhand, Might of Heroes, Quickening etc aren't directed at the enemy so he couldn't nullify those. Angrath is immune to all GK powers other than Smite and Vortex of Doom by virtue of being a Gargantuan Creature so it doesn't really matter. On the point of the 4+ vs 6+ for psilencers - it's 4+. p91 Apo rule book, last section 'all sniper weapons and poisoned weapons wound gargantuan creatures only a roll of a 6'. Psilencers are neither, so they are a good shout. Valkyrion, if you have access to the book, could you tell us about all the changes to the daemon lords? Cheers mate. antique_nova
Ah so it's 4+. Oh well. :P What about the brotherhood champion then? just spam them! He now nullifies any psychic power used against him by a model in base contact with him on 2+. ;) Nullifies? As in a invul save or a save of some sort? because the BC's power nullifies all saves of any kind. BLACK BLΠFLY
If the BC has to take a psychic test then the monster can block it on a 2+. Its kind of silly to think a ~100 point model can easily take out a 888 point model. Something Wycked
36" charge  And this is why I tend to avoid FW rules B) But don't mind me, that's OT. I'd still say that Psilencers are the way to go. 4+ to wound and a 2+ save is exactly how bolters work against Terminators, and Psilencers have the advantage of many more shots poured out than a bolter, and even 50% more than a Psycannon, though the Psycannon does have that chance to rend and ignore the 2+... Drachnon
You know for 888 points you could field 30 purifiers all with daemon hammers :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239457-angrath-redux/page/2/#findComment-2890049 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
Don't even get me started on the topic of garganuant creatures stomping... they rarely ever need to use their actual attack characteristics versus insects. :P G :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239457-angrath-redux/page/2/#findComment-2890057 Share on other sites
Drachnon
In what book are An'graths latest stats anyway? I have only found some rules for him in imperial armour which seems kinda old. If imperials armour is the latest I don't see how it could charge 36" like was mentioned on the previous page, him having a jump pack only allows him to move 12" (if I read the BRB correctly) so unless there's some other rules applying here you won't have to stay 36" away. BLACK BLΠFLY
Stompaz can move 12" and assault 12" so 36" is nothing special really. G :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239457-angrath-redux/page/2/#findComment-2890127 Share on other sites
Crynn
The demonbane would nto require your opponents consent it is a working rule and would just remove him, however I think there may be a rule that stops guarguantuan creatures being removed like that not just instant deathed, though I know a vortex grenade from Lucas would still work. Someone would have to check the forgeworld rules. either way 10 pallies with 5 hammers and 5 warding stalves should be able to beat him with draigo alongside. Grenades would be a great help as well. Valkyrion
I had the book delivered to work and it's now at home, and I'm at work, so I don't have the rules handy. They are all basically the same though, with the oddities removed (like summoning and minor psychic powers and so on). Gargantuan creatures move 12" basic. Gargantuan creatures with a jump pack move 24" basic. Regardless, you still have to shoot it. He can insta kill lots, ignores armour saves, has upwards of 15 attacks on the charge, 36" assault range - why would you even try and fight something like that? His only ranged weapon is an assault 2 plasma gun. Shoot it dead.
