New to 40K minis!

I recently was gifted some marines! Unfortunately they have been slightly ravaged by my nephew who believed them to be toys.

They appear to be Blood Angels, some blue marines, some pre-painted pieces and a few Rhinos. There were also a few Tau scouts.

I need a bit of direction please! I am not a huge fan of Blood Angels (nothing wrong with them) and would like to repaint them.

I have a few questions:

What's the best way to strip the paint from pewter and plastic?

Some of the marines have chapter specific pauldrons, if I paint over them, would they be accepted during tournaments?

What's the best glue?

I'll post a few pictures, sorry about the quality I can't seem to find my digital camera.

Here are some of the pewter guys:

Here are some of the painted/unpainted marines. Quick question, some of them have Mk6 helmets and Mk7 bodies, and vice versa. How do I take them apart and put them back together?

This Rhino is in rough shape. :D It needs some TLC

This one, however, is not.

I also have a bunch of assorted parts and weapons just lying around that I need to put together. I can't wait till I actually get to play!

That's a decent collection of old minis you've inherited. Simple Green is great for stripping paint from metal and plastic. As far as using the BA named minis as counts-as anything else will be a pain (wysiwyg nazis) but do-able. Mixing armour types is fairly common so dont worry about trying to match heads to torso's and such.

Cheers,

Jono

Yeah, simple green is the best bet, works like a charm. It's a pain to repaint vehicles, so if they have a thin smooth coat, I'd say just paint over them, the gunners I'd rake off and soak then I'm simple green though. As for the blood angel characters, you can rather convert then, so they don't look too chapter specific, or as a minor altoration just carefuly file off the chapter badges.
