chmcclellan
So, if I waited to post until I had a perfect IA entry, it would never get off the ground. There are a few things which have motivated/excited me in making a DIY chapter which will be obvious (Origins, Beliefs). The rest is wide open and I appreciate your comments and any suggestions you have for complementary fluff. The Liberators Chapter Libertas inaestimabilis res est - Liberty is a thing beyond all price Origins The Liberators were created in the most recent (26th) founding. Their name was chosen after their first campaign which involved the liberation of the Eleutheria System from the domination of Dark Eldar slavers who used the worlds for their human and natural resources. Upon driving the last of the Dark Eldar back to the Labyrinth Dimension, the chapter so moved by the appreciation of the humans within the system took as their chapter name the term most frequently used by their beneficiaries: Liberators. Homeworld The Liberators' fortress monastery: Freedom's Bastion, sits on Pilleum the most populous of the Eleutheria's worlds. While centuries of anguish under the Dark Eldar had limited the development of the human population, years since the liberation have seen great advances as civil society rebuilds itself. This transformation witnessed by the Liberators has cultivated within the chapter a deep reverence for the transformative forces unleashed when men are free to pursue the interests of thir families and communities without fear of xenos or tyranical oppression. Not unlike the Salamanders, the Liberators spend a period of each year stationed with human settlements throughout Eleutheria. The chapter's leadership believes this time living amongst normal humans reminds the Liberators of those for whom they fight. Combat Doctrine Organization Beliefs The Liberators belief system was profoundly impacted by their experience during Eleutheria's rejuvenation. Unlike some astartes who feel contempt or indifference for rank and file humanity, they see themselves as the servants of mankind - that they exist to ensure that the normal majority of humanity might live more normal and prosperous lives. Excavation in preparation for the construction of Freedom's Bastion led to the discovery of voice records of Imperial Interators dating back to the great crusade. The voice fragments profess the Imperial Truth as originally understood: that The Emperor himself believed humanity's salvation would be found in reason, science, and secular progress. Upon reaching the status of full space marines, Liberators are taught of the records discovery and the Imperial Truth. Geneseed Roboute Guilliman Battlecry Libertas inaestimabilis res est - Liberty is a thing beyond all price Frequently shortened to merely "Libertas!" in the heat of the fray. Anyway, that's a stab at it. Please tear away, or more helpful, suggest where my fluff needs work and any suggestions for improvement. WeaponAdept
Hey buddy, if I get stuck on names I think about what nationality their characgter is (e.g. German) and I go on google translate and type in stuff that relates to the chapter name. For example: LIBERTAS PILEUS PILEUM PILLEUM PILLEUS ELEUTHERIA LICENTIA VACATIO VACUITAS CIVITAS IMMUNITAS INMUNITAS All these words are variations on the possible translations (depending on context and grammatical use etc) of the english word 'freedom' I think that the ELEUTHERIA SYSTEM sounds pretty wicked and it's latin for LIBERTY. I'm using the word 'Vorrecht' in my IA. It's German for privilege. Good 'eh? COMBAT Doctrine. If you play the game and you like fielding lots of Assault squads, make the combat doctrine reflect that, but don't contradict the geneseed source too much. ORGANISATION: Want a whole company of bikes? put it here. Nothing wrong with Codex organisation tho. I learnt that the hard way. I found THIS IA very helpful guide as to what can be acceptable. You can clik the link to my IA in my sig and see the level of critism that could be aimed at you. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239712-ia-the-liberators/#findComment-2891971 Share on other sites

NightrawenII
This transformation witnessed by the Liberators has cultivated within the chapter a deep reverence for the transformative forces unleashed when men are free to pursue the interests of thir families and communities without fear of xenos or tyranical oppression. Touché. The voice fragments profess the Imperial Truth as originally understood: that The Emperor himself believed humanity's salvation would be found in reason, science, and secular progress. Which flies in the face of everything the Imperium has become over the past 10,000 years and technically speaking the entire settings. While it's not bad theme per se, it belongs in the category of the DIY clichés and it usually leads to nice and samaritan marines. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239712-ia-the-liberators/#findComment-2892381 Share on other sites
