Space Wolves and Fetishes?

Greetings gentlemen… I was converting some models for my SW project and a RG shoulder pad made me think about SW fetishes (hope I spelled it correctly). Now, we all now that SW have a bunch of small wolfish skulls and fangs all over the armor, but what about other animals/birds? Specifically, would it make sense if a WG with jump pack or Sky Claw has a raven/eagle/carrion skull as a fetish on his armor?

As you usual, I appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

I'm of two minds on the deal.

1- In a vacuum, I wouldn't see any reason why they wouldn't use such items. The Wolf is their go-to totem for strength, cunning, and pack behavior. Some avian-oriented fetishes would seem appropriate to those who are throwing themselves into the air on a regular basis.

2- Unfortunately, the Ravenwing already has a fluff lock on feathers and such so I really don't see it working in this setting.

There's a lot of wolf players out there that see their Wolves as animal spirit/totemic practitioners. Also, on Fenris, it's justified that Fenrisian wolves (and thunderwolves, blackmanes, and others, etc) are the pinnacle of a predator, and so it's considered a feat of skill to bring one down (hence the wolf totems).

It's not uncommon to have stories about other animals, like mammoths, ice bears, or massive elk, etc, and I seriously doubt anyone would have a problem if another animal trophy from Fenris was displayed instead of a wolf. Runepriests are said to carry many spirit totems and the general practice for CotS are ravens, so having their feathers wouldn't be uncommon. Most players that feel all the wolf 'bling' is excessive might welcome the change.

Here's a guy that took SW models and chose to focus on a different animal instead of wolves (aka the Ravenborn):

Thank you for your replies guys.

I wasn’t actually considering feathers… there are couples of items on new FW RG upgrades that have raven skull… I am trying to figure out if having one raven skull on the model equipped with jump pack would fit SW imagery.

I see wolves this way myself… but I just want to make sure that it is commonly excepted point of view.

I love the wolf as a symbol of the army, however, the raven is a symbol of death for Fenrisians so I wouldn't see why those equipped w/ jump packs or landspeeder crews wouldn't bear a raven icon somewhere.
