[Ultramar Child]

Hi, I'm here to seek some help to shape up some fluff about my Ultramarines successor chapter. I have all the basic ideas but I'd like some feedback from more experienced writers then silly 'ol me. This are the basic lines following the Lexicanum template:

 

Name: Sons of Ultramar

Founding chapter: Ultramarines

Founding: Twenty Sixth Founding

Chapter Master: Lucius Pretorius (Pedro Cantor)

Homeworld: 2 Battle Barges and several Strike Cruisers

Fortress-Monastery: Battle Barge Invictus

Main colours: Black, gold shoulderpad trim, chest adornments in the company color.

Specialty: Assault, Deep Striking

Battle Cry: Veni Vici

 

The chapter was created to take the place left vacant 3 centuries before by the vanquished Black Consuls from whom the inherited their colors while maintaining the Ultramarines's insigna.

While a fleet based Chapter I was thinking about have it placed in the Scarus Sector for his proximity to the Calixis where I'm also gonna use them for a FFG rpg campaign. I've trying to look up the Scarus Sector but all the info around are either before the founding of the chapter or after the 13th Black Crusade while the FFG timeline put the whole rpg setting around 815.41M.

 

I was also wondering if it would be crazy for them to inherit the BC's relics and assets. I'm not sure how this was handled with the Mentor Legion as their had a similar creation and reasoning behind it.

1) If they're Ultramarines successors (and heirs to the Codexiest of Codex chapters), surely they shouldn't have a leader who loses them combat tactics

 

Fortress-Monastery: Battle Barge Invictus

 

That was also the name of an Ultramarines Captain, and thus feels weird for a Battle Barge (which tend to be really old) and for a ship in another chapter.

 

Battle Cry: Veni Vici

 

I think that's past tense, so it'd be 'we came, we conquered'. Which seems weird as a battle cry.

I'd expect some modification of the insignia, if only to maintain brand distinctiveness. ;)

Makes sense. Fleet based chapters get around anyway.

The Star Scorpions were (mostly) lost in the Warp, though, so I suspect a lot of their stuff went with them. And since the Mentors tested stuff, it would be weird for them to have too much old stuff in any case.

 

I'd say no. People aren't even sure the Consuls are gone, so it would seem weird to have them be confirmed as definitely dead and have their stuff lying around. Plus, my impression is that the circumstances in which their loss took place would have hampered retrieving their stuff.

- That's speciality of any Chapter of Space Marines by default.
